I am sure this is an age old question. We are looking for loop recommendations for April 2009. We have a 30' Hybrid. Would like full hookup (cable is not necessary). We have not pets and don't really want to be on a pet loop. We have 2 boys ages 8 & 11.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

The 1400 is nice..It is close to the campfire movie and the Meadow Swimming Pool.

if we didn't have pets we would stay at the 1100 loop.

We are going in June 2009 and have made our reservations thru Rhonda. I told her to put down the 1400 loop for us. we have a 30' Hybrid also. 2006 Aerolite Cub 236. We just got it last season, moving up from a popup, and we just absolutly love it!!

We just moved up from a popup to a Roo 23SS and love it too. Just had our first trip last week. I recall one of your postings on either hyx or glpuc.org. Your from South Bend. We're from Indianapolis.

Thanks for the info and enjoy your trip.

We would like to take our first trip to the Fort in January 2009. How do you reserve it now? We are AAA members and we were going to book through them but they said we could not book until new rates come out. Any suggestions? Thanks for all the suggestions on loops.

book your ressies now and call about 6-8 months before your trip to see if the AAA has released the discounts yet. they release in blocks so if they are not available try at least once a week to get in before they are gone. when you get it they will then discount your ressie.

Probably hyx as I did not post much, if at all on glpus. Have you planned your trip down yet, or thought about it? that is the part that has me worried. I'd like to drive it in 2 days, but don't have a feel for how far that will get us per day. Our current plan is leaving South Bend around 6am on Friday morning and then staying south of the Ten, GA state line at a KOA or somewhere. Then leaving around 6am sat morning and getting to the Fort hopefully around 4pm. But I am not sure of the distance and timeline. I have been thinking lately that I would leave Thursday night after work and drive to the Ind-Ky state line and find a hotel just to get a 4 hour head start.

Anyway, still 14 months to figure that out. Just curious to see what your thinking. You can send me a private message if that would be better. :thumbsup2

Thanks
Dan

I got in touch with Rhonda (the mod of this forum). She is with Dreams Unlimited and she is able to make reservations for the dates you want. I gave her our dates and my AAA number but no AAA discounts yet for the dates we want. But one of the nice things Rhonda does is keeps watching the dates of your trip and if any discounts show up, she moves your ressie to those rates. I requested the 1400 loop, but at this point, I think we would be happy with just about any preferred loop with what I am hearing as far as renovations going on.

I just tried to PM you. I don't have enough posts to do that yet. Please PM me instead.

I think that by April 2009 they'll have added cable to all loops and the site categories will be premium and preferred rather than preferred and full hookup, but I could be wrong. The loop we usually request is 1400. It's near the pool, campfire and Meadows trading post, but still an easy walk, bus ride or bike ride to the Settlement. We've also stayed in the 200 loop (very convenient to the Settlement) and the 1000 loop (very convenient to the pool and Meadows trading post), and frankly liked all of them.
