Which is The Busiest Time - Mardi Gras ? or President's Week ?

Hi

Just wondered if someone could tell me which is generally the busier time in the WDW parks - Mardi Gras or President's Week. ?

I know President's Week is the third week in February, but when is Mardi Gras (2008) ? and do all Americans take this holiday ?

I would appreciate any help you can give especially regarding crowd levels

President's week is far more crowded than Mardi Gras.

In 2008, Tuesday 5 February is Mardi Gras.

And no, most Americans don't celebrate Mardi Gras the way it is celebrated in many other countries (Carnivale, etc.). It's not a holiday here by any stretch of the imagination.

I'll second the info that most Americans do not take vacation during Mardi Gras. It is big in the south, but not really that much for the rest of the country. And typically, people go to New Orleans if they are going to celebrate Mardi Gras. OR, many that actually live in New Orleans year 'round get out of town!

We are actually going during the first week of February in 2008...which as was mentioned is during Mardi Gras. The later in February you wait, typically the busier it gets. Also, there is a bit of a spike around the third weekend in February. Now don't laugh when you hear the reason......this is when NASCAR's Daytona 500 is and there are a lot of folks that will come down to go to Disney the week before and the week after the Daytona 500.

We will be in Orlando from 1st Feb to 9th Feb (when we catch our DCL cruise), so hopefully the parks won't be too busy then.
