Hi! I am a WDW regular headed to DLR for the first time next week! I will be staying at the Anaheim Marriott for the first 2 days for meetings, then plan to move to a property on site for the fun days at the parks! We are 2 adults in our early thirties, no kids. We will be there 2/27- 3/1. I have looked and looked for codes/discounts and have not found much. Here is what I found:

Costco: 2 nights at DLH, dinner in the park voucher (or character breakfast, opting for dinner since no kids), $50 Disney Gift Card, $80 Disney Gift Card, 3 day Park Hopper Passes for $1089.

I also found on LastMinuteTravel.com a 4.5 Star Hotel that I am pretty sure is the GCH for $353 a night, and a 4 Star hotel that is most likely DLH for $263 a night.

Any advice? Thanks!

Did you check Expedia? Also, I know the hotel has some Disney Visa specials, do you have one?

Hi! I checked expedia, ARES travel, hotels.com, travelocity. DLH $310 a night, GCH $425 a night. Don't have a Disney Visa, have an airline one!

Have you considered staying off site? You'll find a much better deal, as close or closer walk to the parks.

I agree about considering staying off-site. It's so different than WDW where you want to be on-site for so many reasons. Staying off-site at DL is much less expensive and you don't really lose a whole lot of perks. You can probably even get a nicer room for less. Some of the off-site hotels are even a closer walk to the front gate.

That said, I would love to stay at the GCH one of these days! I've stayed at the DLH if I can get a good annual pass rate of $149 or so. Otherwise, we opt to stay off-site. We are staying at HoJo's this weekend for $69/night!
I'd rather take the extra money and use it for other stuff at the park or to go more days!

Thanks for all of the advice- I am still deciding and considering an offsite hotel. DLR must be so different, because I would never consider staying offsite at WDW! I am still trying to figure out the "VALUE" of the costco package. Any thoughts on the Dinner Vouchers instead of the character breakfast? How do these vouchers usually work? And a dinner place you would recommend?

I was going to look at the AP site to see what the current rate is...see if it would make sense financially to get an AP (just one of you) and get access to that rate. But there's something going on with my login and I can't get the info. But maybe someone else can find out.

The dinner in the park thing is going to be a voucher for a certain amount of money. If you buy less than the voucher, you won't get change back, if they follow their usual ways. If you buy more, you pay out of pocket.

When we did a costco package we had character b'fast vouchers and that was great, b/c it was for the exact amount (including tax and tip). Nothing else was needed.

And you're right...DLR is very different, hotel/motel-wise, than WDW. Have you checked out HydroGuy's tips up in a "sticky" thread? He has info about DLR for WDW "vets". Very helpful.

I hope someone can check the AP rate, to see if, especially DLH, has a price that might make that worth it, without having to use a 3rd party site or buy a package.

Oh, and especially for the DLH, I'm thinking the value isn't all that much for the costco package...but price it out...check out disneyland.com for prices at the hotel, check out their ticket prices (right now they are in "everyone pays the kid's price" ticket mode!!!), etc.

Yay, I finally got into my AP account!

Looks like the special AP rate for the 27th through the 1st is....for GCH, 299 for the 27th and 28th (each, not total).

For DLH it is 279 for the 27th, and 189! for the 28th.

Not available for PPH.

Those are the "AP8" rates. "Call us at (714) 520-5006† from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. PST daily to reserve your room."

Don't forget tax, and the resort fee of $12 per night plus tax on that, too. Those won't likely be on top of any package deal you get...it's generally taken care of in the package. But going through an expedia-type site you probably will have to pay those.

ANyway, it doesn't really look like that's a terrific deal, when you add on one AP at 269 (instead of just the 3 day ticket). But it's always worth thinking about!

Have you tried to rent points from a DVC member for your stay? Not sure if you can this late in the game, but worth a shot maybe if you are still looking. Good luck!:thumbsup2
