We booked the pop for the end of august but do not know which standard building to pick. We have never stayed at the pop before so would love any tips and information that you can pass along to us to make our stay even better. I am not going to pay extra for the 60's building so which would you recommend. We are a family of 4, myself,dh,ds-9 and dd7. How long of a walk is it from the rooms to the food and bus stops.
Are the longs really long for the buses? We are not getting a car so our means of transportation will be the buses.
Thanks for your help!

We have stayed at Pop 3 times now. The first 2 times we were in the 50s. I loved this location. Once was ground floor facing the pool (it was like having my own private pool). The next 50s location was facing the 60s building. (We could almost touch the building and didn't have to pay the extra money. Walked down the stairs to the food court.) Just when the 50s had won me over, we went again in May (2 weeks) and we were put in the 90s building. I was a little nervous, but this location was even better. We were in the building facing the parking lot. We came out of our room and could see the buses. The walk to the bus area and food court took about 2 minutes, maybe less. I had a shorter walk than the folks in the preferred section). This again was a great location. And the computer pool was on the other side of my building. I just walked down stairs and turned left and the pool was right there. So I have to opt for the 90s building to be the closest to the bus area, but the 70s building was right next to us, so that one is pretty close too. We will be back at Pop for a 2 night stay in September and a 9 night stay in October, so now have 2 favorite sections to request.

We just stayed at Pop in April. Our room was in the 70's Big Wheel building(B on the map below), room 0108, which in on the far right "wing" facing 70's building A. It wasn't a far walk from the foodcourt/buses.

Resort Map

The only time I noticed that the lines were long for the buses was on the way back to the resort at MK closing. We didn't go to any other parks.

We just spent the week before Memorial Day at the Pop and we stayed in the 70s, building 6 facing the lake. It was so quiet on that side we never heard anything. It was a walk from the parking lot, but close to Classic Hall and the Buses. My girls used the Hippy Dippy pool every day and if you have young ones, the popjet pool is 50 feet from the building.

We had a room in the 50's facing the lake last Dec. and it was perfect. Not much further from the main building than the 60's and quiet because we were not facing the pool. We're going to request this again when we go back in August. :)

The bus service does not vary much resort to resort. What makes a difference is really time of year and time of day. In Dec, traveling when the parks first opened in the am, we never had a long wait and never felt squished or had to stand on busses. This past May we stayed at AKL and while the busses were a little more crowded, so were the parks so that made sense. We also did a few bus rides mid day this time and found the waits to be a little longer during off peak times.

If you plan to hit the parks when or around when they open you won't have terrible waits for busses. Not sure about crowds as it's been a long time since I was there in August. :)

My DH, DD11 and I just spent a couple of nights at Pop over Memorial weekend and we stayed in the 50's section which I loved!! I had put in a room request for the 70's but was glad we were put in the 50's section instead. We walked over to the 70's section and I didn't care for it at all - it wasn't nearly as "bright" as the 50's section and we enjoyed the 50's theming so much more. The 70's buildings are shades of green which I thought made it seem kind of un-Disney like because it seemed kind of dark and gloomy (probably not the perfect choice of words so don't flame me!!) vs the 50's which are shades of purple with a giant Lady and the Tramp. We had a corner room on the top floor of Bldg C facing the pool which was great. We could look out our window or stand outside our room and see all the activity at the pool, it was a very short walk to the 60's section and to see the Epcot & MK fireworks we just had to walk to the back of the building for a great view. The only drawback was that it was a longer walk to the 50's parking lot compared to being in Bldg A (we had a rental car) but in Bldg A we would have lost the nice view of the fireworks. We didn't use the bus system but since we had such a short walk to the Hippy Dippy pool from our building it would have been a short walk to the bus stop which is in front of the main building where the 60's pool is. Have fun!!

::MickeyMo We were also in Building 6 during that same week. We were room #6215. Where were you guys? :wave2: LOL We enjoyed the 70's section. I stayed at Pop Century also in September but was in the 60's (preferred) but not as close to everything as I was this trip.

::MickeyMo In the 70's we overlooked the back of the building, the lake, and part of the 60's building. Last September, in the 60's, we were in the Mowgli/Baloo building just past where you would overlook the kid's pool. We were also on the second floor.

::MickeyMo I had requested 50's or 70's and was happy with our room. I thought the 50's were cute too, and we also enjoyed the bowling pool in that section as well. princess: Rebecca

I stayed in the 80's building. It looks far on the map, but it wasn't far at all! Enjoy your stay! :)

thanks guys-I am gathering from all of your input that everyone liked all the rooms/decades.
Did anyone hate a section?
Should I put a request on where not to be placed?
I just may take a chance and see where they put me? Is this crazy?
If you are facing the pools are they very noisey at night? What time does the pool close?
thanks again and all your tips are a BIG help.

Ok, I loved the 50's section bldg 2 facing the parking lot. Now I know that doesn't sound like much of a view but at night we could see spaceship Earth and some of the higher fireworks from Illuminations. We were on facing the parking lot and to the left (looking at the parking lot, not looking at the room) was the lake. We were on the 2nd floor but the view of Spaceship Earth is much better on the 4th floor.

It was nice to have the pool behind us that was close but far enough away to not hear the noise.

Yes I would like to know this too. Personally I would love to face one of the pools and thought how much fun in the 60's section - but it seems many people do not like preferred - or at least don't think it is worth it. Is it that loud? I don't mind some noise and since we are going in Sept I doubt there will be school trips or lots of late night teenagers there.

I am leaning towards requesting 50's - where is goofy's fountain pool - when looking at the map? Thanks!

I noticed very little noise, if any, on our fourth floor room overlooking the 50's pool (we were right next to Tramp). You might get a little more noise from a first floor room but if we stayed at Pop again we would definitely request a room facing the pool preferably on the 4th floor. What's funny is that I requested 70's building, top floor with an Illuminations view but they put us in the 50's section poolside view but we loved it so I was glad they didn't meet our requests but this is an example that requests are never a sure thing!!

I think the pools were open until at least 10:00 if not midnight - we were only there 2 nights and we got severe thunderstorms so they had to close the pools. We spent the first 2 nights at CSR and I know those pools were open until midnight so I'm assuming it would be the same at Pop.

Off the subject, We are debating between POP and CSR for our free dining plan trip? Is CSR worth the extra $55 plus tax a night if you plan on being at the resorts most of the time?

okay, I think that I am going to request for a room facing the lake or parking lot. Even though I know we will not be getting to bed until late, I would hate to have it very noisy in front on you.
Another couple of questions:
Do all of the buildings have elevators?
In all of the buildings can you see the fireworks from the 4th floor?
Is there one building that is really far from the pool and bus stops?
Our trip is basically going to consist of going to the parks and possible a few dips in the pool. We want to be close to the pools, bus stops and food court.I am sure everyone else does too.
Thanks again

Personally, I would save the $55 a night and stay in Pop but that's my opinion and of course, I've already experienced CSR. I loved the Pop theming but it was nice to spend a couple of nights at a mod to experience something a little more deluxe and laid back. They are definitely two VERY different resorts which is why we did a split stay so we could experience both. One advantage of staying at CSR is there is a fridge in the room and they also have a slide at the main pool which you don't get at the values so that's a plus if you have kids but IMO $55 a night times 7 nights adds up to a significant amount of money that I would rather use elsewhere. The way I look at it is that the savings would nearly pay for our airfare but I tend to be pretty budget-minded.

I too agree with Jeanne. We have stayed at moderates before and am trying the POP this August. For $55 per night x 7 nights. To save almost $400 that is a no brainer for me. I am paying $600 for airfare. I'd rather use that towards the air.
From the reviews that I have been reading, looks like the POP will be fine.
Can't wait to go!!!
