Yaaaa we have decided to fly for our Oct trip.

Last time we flew we rented from Dollar and they were OK, but we didn't like the type of cars they used. Also I can't get a quote of there website right now. What company do you use????

Thanks

We like Avis at MCO. For one reason, they don't charge extra for your spouse to drive the car. I reserved a midsize and was given a very nice Ford Escape (SUV). The vehicle had 4,200 miles on it and we paid $154 including all taxes for a five night rental. Also, AVIS is on-site, so you don't have to ride a shuttle bus to get to the cars.

National gets my vote,too! :teeth:

Their rates are fantastic right now for most of us.

For those of you that have Geico car insurance, Enterprise has a deal with them to get a discount. I think it is 20% off. I may be able to use my AAA discount AND my Geico discount. If I can that will make it $197.00 for an SUV rental for 8 days. :) $114 off sounds really good. :)

National and of course their Emerald Club. Nothing like bypassing the counter and picking my own car!

I used almost all of them, either via direct reservations or through Priceline. Here are quick impressions of the ones I've used:

L & M: Very new cars, free spouse driver, no pressure for insurance.
Budget: Cars have higher mileage, no pressure for insurance.
Avis: Decent cars, no pressure for insurance.
Alamo: Usually the longest line, sometimes very high pressure for insurance, you get to pick your own car.
National: Same cars as Alamo, but no insurance pressure and shorter line.
Hertz: Off-site, but very prompt shuttle bus.
Thrifty: Same as Hertz, but did get one agent who was obnixious about the insurance.

National is my favorite lately. The prices have been competive and I really like the Emerald Aisle and Emerald Reserve service.

May I suggest that you check with your insurance agent to see if they will transfer coverage to the rental car for your trip. You can skip the insurance talk then. :) Also, you can use a Visa card to rent the car and Visa should pick up the full coverage for you. Check first of course. ;)

I prefer Hertz. We used to use National but found Hertz to be much quicker. Our cars at National had mechanical problems or were dirty.

Hertz is a very short shuttle ride away. The cars have always been in good shape. I can bypass the counter and be on my way quickly.

I just booked with Budget for end October for a week. An economy, 4 door for a base of $97.12...$132 with taxes and fees.
