Which is Quicker: Monorail or Ferry Boat to Magic Kingdom?

They are both about the same. Seems more people rush tot he monorail station vs the ferry boat landing so we tend to take the ferry more often unless it's a very light crowd day.

Hint - the resort monorail, stops at MK and The TTC and is always less crowded then either of the Express Monorail and the Ferry, it's made leaving the parks at night easier.

the monorail is faster getting to the park becuase of it's high frequency. However at night at closing Go for the ferry boat. The monorail can get to be a 2 + hour wait. the Ferry Boat may not be as frequent, but at clossing they use all three boats and it can hold a much higher capacity of people , as a result you get to your car faster.

I like to hit both but usually the monorail in the morning because it is less busy. I must admit that I enjoy going through the contemporary on the monorail.

We tried the monorail in may and it broke down on us so the trip from MK to GF took almost an hour! It stunk, the ferry afterwards back to MK was vewry relaxing though.

I have to ride the Monorail. It has such a Disney feeling. The boat is rather boring, in my opinion. :p

They are about the same timewise. I prefer the monorail just because I think it's a much better experience... it's almost as though a trip to Disney without a monorail ride is incomplete.

WELL...
the only way I can think of that the timing of the TRIPS (from TTC to MK) is the "about the same" is if the monorail is BROKEN and doesn't move for 10-15 minutes before it finally departs.

The Ferry is SO AGONIZINGLY S-L-O-W.

It carries a lot of people, but the Ferry trip takes 3 to 6 times longer than the express MK monorail.

The "resort monorail" is fine... except if you're headed to MK on it from TTC, it will make two stops (of varying duration) before reaching MK station.
It takes much longer to reach MK on the resort monorail from TTC than taking the express MK monorail. (But its STILL FASTER than the Ferry!)

Did I mention the Ferry is S-L-O-W? ;)

We always take the ferry. Since so many people rush to the monorail, you sometimes have to wait for the next one. Typically you can get right on the ferry. I also like the view of the Poly, the GF, and the castle from across the water. Really pretty at night too. :lovestruc

I agree.

I have used both, but I think I like the ferry better because it can hold more people. I will most likely get on the ferry when I first get to MK in Oct.

We normally only do the Resort Monorail at park closing. While everyone is rushing for the ferry and the express monorail, no one is going to the resort one, so we go there.

I don't think the ferry is all that slow honestly.

Monorail vs ferry:

check to see how many boats are running.

If it is in the afternoon, there may be only one ferry operating. That makes for a VERY long wait if the you just missed it.

Unless there is a huge wait at the monorail, it is so much faster than the ferry. We broke down on the monorail in February for approximately 20 minutes. We still arrived at the same time as the ferry. If the ferry was even close to as fast I would take it because it is alot more relaxing but the time table doesn't compare.

It also depends on how long you have to wait for them. We have passed both the monorail and ferry in the past. I think in general though, the monorails are a little faster.

If at night and you can catch the fireworks, taking the ferry can be awesome.

Sounds like the monorail breaks down fairly often. Is this a problem?

When I was a MK bus driver, we'd park at TTC, and then take the Monorail or Ferryboat over to the MK. So I've done this many, many, many times. ON AVERAGE, they will indeed be about the same.

The only time when the ferry will be significantly longer is when they are running one boat, and it just left.
