Which is bigger, Boardwalk Villas 1BR or Beach Club Villas 1BR

I stayed at both 2 months apart. I thought the size of the Boardwalk unit was MUCH bigger. The Beach Club unit was a handicapped accessible unit, so I thought maybe that accounted for the difference. When I asked, I was told the accessible rooms were actually bigger. HUH? Am I crazy or are Boardwalk and Beach Club the same size.

BCV: A 1 bedroom Villa is 726 sq. ft.
BWV: A 1 bedroom Villa is 712 sq. ft.

Wow. They must have just made better use of the space at Boarwalk, cuz it felt HUGE. Beach club seemed small. Plus, at Boardwalk I had a HUGE balcony that spanned 2 rooms. At Beach Club, you could hardly walk out there with the chairs out there also.

Disney has published different numbers in different places. Here is a square footage chart from DVC Mike, who found his info in DVC publications:

It seems to support your impressions. I think that the huge closet in the BWV 1 bedrooms may account for some of the difference and the average balcony sizes may even be included.

Yes. The closet WAS huge as were the balconies.

The 712 sq ft for BWV is about correct; studio is about 360. Those BWV numbers that have come from some Disney published numbers are in error. Orginal BWV plans had those larger room sizes. Those plans were replaced before construction. Nevertheless, the sizes of the rooms from those plans keep raising their head now and then. For many years the Disney website published the correct room sizes. Then they had a total makeover of the Disney website about four years ago and when the room sizes came up on new pages, they had the room sizes from the original plan. I think they have removed them now but the error keeps living. Been in both and did not notice huge difference. Sense of BWV could be larger because front foyer, kitchen and shower room in BCV are a little bigger than BWV, and couch is longer, the combination of which make the living room and large closet at BCV smaller than BWV.

For some reason odd numbers have found their way into Disney official stats for BWV. Early on they were not listed as they are now and are definitely not that large for most units. I suspect they measured some of the odd rooms like the ones in the bends and those number have propagated over the years.

The BWV 1 Bedroom felt so much larger than the BCV. I liked the bath layout of the BWV much better than BCV.

I have stayed at BWV and BCV in a 1 bdrm and I thought BWV rooms were much better with a better bathroom layout.

We also had more closet space.
