Hi everyone
I am trying to pick a place for 4 adults on the night of MVMCP. I have Crstal Palace booked right now but wondering if Liberty Tree Tavern would be better. Which one has better food? I have only been to CP for breakfast and liked it. I have also been to LTT for lunch and loved it but I know the dinner is turkey and pork. My DH is more about the food than the atmosphere and not a bif fan of buffets. I would love to hear any reviews from people that have dined at both. Thanks again for all your input !!!!:banana:

Both are good choices as far as I am concerned.

But if I had to choose it would be CP for dinner. This is one of my favorites.

The buffet has plenty of variety, everything is maintained and always good. It satisfies the meat eater and the veggie person, so it wins in my book.

Now I love LTT but it is more restrictive. The "thanksgiving" type meal is all about comfort and I can go for it, but I have to be in the mood.
Your limitations are just that...limiting. With the ham, turkey and flank steak how can one go wrong, but again if you aren't in the mood then you have no other choice.

Sorry, not really a help, am I?? LOL So I would ask this, does your DH want more of a variety even though a buffet, or would he be better off with a fixed menu??

Dinner at CP has been downright awful on our last few visits. The food was bland and tasteless, dishes that were supposed to be hot were cold, service was awful, like most character meals and buffets the atmosphere is loud and somewhat chaotic. If you are not going to CP dinner for the characters, there is really no other reason to go.

If your DH is not a fan of buffets and is more interested in the food more than anything, LTT is the logical choice. :thumbsup2

I think the food at the Liberty Tree Tavern in great, but they serve family style. Check out the menus and see what looks better.

One of my biggest complaints is that most of the character meals have the same basic food.

I'd vote for Liberty Tree Tavern. DH loves that place. I think alot depends on the personalities of the people going.

Crystal Palace has a better variety, but it's also a character meal. So when the characters go back for break, the lines for the buffet get really long. Plus, not all people are "buffet" people...some people think when you go to a restaurant the food should be brought to you. With kids, it's great bc I know they'll eat something there.

Liberty Tree is family style but it's easy enough to keep requesting more of your favorite dish. We've had amazing service and our drinks never got less than half full.

For DH, he has 2 restaurants that are a must for each visit : Chef Mickey's for breakfast and Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner.

For dinner, I'd pick Crystal Palace. We've done both of these for dinner and we can say we likied CP better. It's not about the characters, but the food is decent.

But.....we like Liberty Tree Tavern better for a lunch, so we can order off their menu, can anyone say "pot roast?"

We also like CP better at lunch time, they had this flank steak that we thought was really yummy.

Both are great choices but we really like CP better for both food and atmosphere

i had dinner at Liberty Tree in 2008,character emeal w/gradkids at the time. the food was dlisious! the theming is great too! We had lunch at Crystal palace with granddaughhters in early june of this year ,the food here was good and plenty to chose form! plus you get Eeyor so it's all good. i gess it would depend on what kida food you like...

Thanks everyone !!!!!!
Everytime I ask the other 2 adults where they would like to eat they say that they don't care and its up to me because DH and myself go all the time. I hate picking restaurants for friends and family !!!!! My niece's new husband has never been to Disney so this will be a first for him. My niece loves Pooh so thats why I thought CP would be fun for her but some people have terrible reviews on CP. Then I have my DH who is not a fan of character buffets (he is a food snob-haha). I hate making all these decisions !!!!!!
Thanks again for all the good reviews.:banana:

If your niece loves Pooh (sorry, but that made me giggle) then might I suggest CP for breakfast and LTT for a dinner. The food at CP breakfast is better (not to mention the meal is cheaper). This way you can make both your niece and DH happy. Not to mention, if you can snag an ADR pre-RD, the empty walk down MSUSA is a great way to start the day and gives you a chance to get some pictures without everyone else in the way. Of course, it all depends if you can budget it. :thumbsup2

We love CP for breakfast, but tried dinner there on our last trip and it ended up being the 2nd worst meal of our trip. The items were bland and not the correct temperature. Our service wasn't very good, either. We will probably not go there again except for breakfast.

Liberty Tree Tavern is great. We've never had a bad experience there, and we enjoy the food.

Personally I would not go back to Liberty Tree for dinner. The last two times I ate there the food was awful. I know the menu says "Pork" but it has always actually been "Ham" (not the fresh ham but the cured type) when I've eaten there & the last time they slathered it in a mustard sauce so I couldn't have eaten it even if I wanted to.

I can't give an opinion on CP because I won't do a Pooh Character meal. I've only eaten there once for breakfast & it was many years ago when my nieces were little. I wasn't impressed with either the food or the service at the time.

I would not eat dinner during MVMCP. It's so short as it is, that I would want to make good use of every minute. I believe they will let you inside the park well before the party starts at 7 p.m. If you have MK tickets during the day, then I would have a late lunch at LTT (when it is not a fixed menu) or a late lunch at one of the monorail resorts: Grand Floridian Cafe, Kona Cafe, The Wave, etc.

Have you thought about a late lunch at the Castle? That would probably be my favorite choice!

Of the two you are considering, I would go with LTT, because it seems to be more consistent and it has that holiday feel to it.

CP is amazing except for dinner, they make you feel like cattle , rush you in and out....we go often very often and to me while the food is amazing, its not worth being rushed...CP for lunch and Liberty Tree for dinner(but its not the same without characters)....

LTT hands down. We ate there on 7/17 and they just recently changed their menu a little. The menu on the Disney website isn't accurate. They have an awesome pork loin instead of ham and dessert is a type of cranberry cake instead of the apple dessert prior. I was very pleased with the change :thumbsup2

Ditto! I don't really care for pork, but this was delicious.

I agree with all of this. LTT is on our list of never again restaurants at WDW. I'd personally do the Plaza restaurant. It's simple, tasy food, great ice cream for dessert. I also really like CRT (although I've only been for breakfast and lunch),
