Which is best among these for running shoes : Adidas,Nike,Asics or Reebok?

I totally am with those that say go to a running store. All my friends and husband wear asics gel nimbus. After a half mile on the treadmill my shins and knees have never hurt so bad! Right now I'm loving my nike zoom structure triax.

I also like the running store. We take our kids there to get fitted. i also went this week. Cant get shoes there because my feet are larger than they carry. :-)

But I also know that they are not on comission and they know what they are talking about...

If you dont have a running store than the runner's world article will get you a lot closer than you would get otherwise...

It really depends on your foot, but for me, I've always been and always will be, a Nike girl. I absolutely hate Reeboks - hurt my feet - and the others, for me, just don't compare to Nikes. Go and try them on and see what works for you. Have fun!

The first pair of running shoes I bought when I got into running was through the online test on roadrunnersports.com. I paid a little over $100 for the Adidistar something or the other. While the shoe did ok, I ended up losing about 4 toenails (not permanently) because there was too much room in the box. I was hesitant to go to a running store because I thought it was going to be so expensive.

After about a month of dealing with the Adidistar's I decided just to go to a running store. It was a small, locally owned one. He measured my foot and arch, watched me run barefoot on a treadmill and how my foot struck, then went and brought me two pairs of shoes (you don't go in and pick a shoe by brand or because you like the color or the way they look like you would a generic sporting goods store). A pair of Asics Gel something or the other (I'm awful with shoe names :) ) and Brooks Adrenaline. He had me try both on and try them on the treadmill. After that he had me go outside and take my time feeling each one out. I really liked both of them but decided on the Asics as it felt lighter when I hit the ground.

The Asics were $99 at that store and the cheapest I could find them online was $105. I was so impressed by going to that store. He even had a 30 day return guarantee if I didn't love them. After the Asics wore out (300 miles or 6 months) I purchased the Brooks Adrenaline. I like them for my shorter runs but after anything longer than 7-8 miles I start to get a slight pain in my arch.
