My parents wanted to join our upcoming May SSR trip but I fear by bthe time they are ready to commit there will be no rooms at SSR left. So my Plan B is a room as close to us a possible...we have a car (they do not) so getting to them quickly will be important as we prefer driving to parks. Looks like Buena Vista Palace and Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista are maybe the closest. I'm a Hilton Honors member so that may help. Which resort would be easiest for them to potentially walk back to after an evening at DS? Which is nicest? I'm leaning towards Buena Vista Palace.

Either one they have to walk the pedestrian bridge(s) to get back to hotel. After that it really depends on where your room is located within the hotel. Both could have a shorter or longer walk. It be easy at either for you to swing out front and pick them up.

I've stayed at both and I'd probably pick Hilton BVP simply because I don't think the Hilton Orlando LBV has been renovated in many years. It's a pretty basic hotel. I had hoped when the Palace became a Hilton they would either rebrand or totally renovate the other but nothing.

Your saying NOT the Buena Vista Palace? Just making sure...

Sorry, I'll make post more clear. I'm saying I would pick the Buena Vista Palace. The Hilton Orlando LBV would have to go through a renovation before I'd stay there again, especially if using points.

Gotcha!

You don't HAVE to go across the bridge. We just stayed at the Palace one and just walked across the road lol. From the edge of DS where they want you to exit at to go to the walkway, we just walked the opposite direction about 200 feet, and cut across right where the turn in is for the hotel, walked thru the parking lot and in the door down by the shuttle pick up. Took maybe 10 min. When we took the walkway, it was probably double the time.

I will say our room smelled very musty which apparently is common according to reviews but otherwise the hotel was very nice.

Walking across the road is not allowed. There are no crosswalks and there are signs to not cross but follow sidewalk with arrows. If security working at DS or SS sees them they will make them go back. (and I've seen it happen more than once.)

I've stayed a few times and never a problem with my room. But as with all hotels, there will be good days and bad days. At this point I would say the only hotel at Disney Springs that you likely don't have to worry is the Drury - when it opens. Otherwise they ALL probably could all use some TLC, some more than others.

It may not be "allowed" but a ton of people were doing it. No one ever said a word to us. Besides, you are not crossing right there, you walk down the sidewalk on that side of the road a bit. If you don't want to do it thats fine. I was simply stating you don't HAVE to use the pedestrian bridge if you don't want to.

I've stayed at both DS Hilton properties in the last few months and I would say that they both are in need of room refurbishments. My room at the Buena Vista Palace was in much worse shape than my room at Hilton Lake Buena Vista.
Some things to consider for your parents: BVP is a huge resort and depending on where their room is, they could have a pretty long walk. Also, walking back to the resort, they would have to walk up hill once on hotel property, so be sure and take their mobility into consideration.
ETA: When I stayed at BVP, I ended up ubering to/from Disney Springs. I think with tip, it was around $10ish each way. I walked to/from DS when I stayed at the Hilton and didn't find it to be a difficult walk. There are elevators at the elevated walkway entrances.

I vote for Palace Hilton also,it's the closest drive or walk time to SSR. It's literally across the street,so if you're picking them up it'll be most convenient. Our room was maybe a bit older, but def. not musty.....

I have a question however....if OP wants to park and visit their parents at LBV, will they be charged? Just during the day...

That won't be a problem. We have no intentions of hanging out at a non Disney resort. They will hang with us at SSR (we plan on adding them to our reservation hustbfor ease of early entry, evening deluxe hours and scheduling if LL)
