I am between PBR and RPR.

Which has the better pool area?

Is one closer to the parks?

Is RPR more kid friendly?

I have stayed at both. The PBH has larger rooms, but it is farther from the parks. You'll probably want to take the boat transportation if you stay at the PBH. That walk home can be a long one after a full day at the parks. The beach pool at the PBH has a water slide. It's a very pretty hotel, but I find it to be very serene. We once stayed over Spring Break when the hotel was sold out and it still felt like a ghost town to us. But it is a very pretty hotel, and the beach pool is very cool. Also, the PBH has 2 other quiet pools. The RPR only has one pool.

The RPR is very tropical. The rooms are a lot smaller, but it is much closer to the parks. The walking path from the RPR leads you right to Margaritaville, which is just across the short bridge to IOA. There are ping pong tables around the pool as well (I don't remember them near the beach pool at PBH.) The pool area has no slide, but more like a landing with things that have hopping water and things that shoot water out at you:

RPR has lots of pool activites, but I wouldn't say it's any more kid friendly than PBH.

RPR think a little more bustling and tropical.
PBH think quiet and plush, but still with lots of families.

It depends on what you want. Have fun choosing!

I don't know about the other one, but my 7 yo LOVED LOVED LOVED the Royal Pacific's pool area. The pool is HUGE so it never feels crowded. You're free to bring floats and/or pool toys. There are 2 basketball hoops (at the edge of the water) and a net for water volleyball. No slide, but since pool hopping was allowed, we went to the Hard Rock's pool for an afternoon to use the slide.

This isn't like WDW, none of the resorts is to far away.

Oh, thank you for the information.

Still a hard choice, I was leaning toward RPR but the slide at PBR sounds so good.:yay:

HRH is closer to the parks than both and has a nice slide as well.... What are the reasons you have eliminated it from your choices? Maybe we can change your mind!!!

Oh, I guess I didn't think I would like the theming.

Yes, you could definitely change my mind! What do you like about HRH?

Hey our family is exactly like yours! We have two, ages 7 & 9 and recently returned from a trip to RPR. We stayed at PBH two years ago. I thought we would miss the slide, but my kids didn't. We had a blast staying at RPR. The feel of the resort is similar to WDW's Polynesian. PBH is beautiful and the rooms are larger, but I felt the setting was more "formal" whereas RPR felt more relaxed. You can pool hop so if the kids miss a slide that much, just plan an afternoon at a different resort.

Good luck with your choice!

HRH is just super cool. The workers are in black suits, there are displays of rock star's outfits and musical instruments all over, the pool and slide are really cool. It is hard to find another word to describe it. My kids love this hotel. It is also so very close to the parks and you can get a room with two queens and a pullout with the extra room.

For kids that age, I would say RPR. My kids loved the pool, especially the sandy beach all around it. They didn't even want to go to the parks. It's also a nice walk to City Walk and IOA. The standard room is a little small, but very, very nice. Next time I'm going to try for a suite.

We have stayed at all three and the Hard Rock is our favorite, hands down. We liked the location of the RPH, but my boys like a waterslide. We loved the waterslide at the PBH, but its location was not as good. We like to walk to the parks, instead of waiting for a boat. The HRH has a great side, and it is so close to the parks. We loved everything about that hotel. Just my 2 cents.
