I am thinking about using some of our Hilton points for this trip. Are any of them in walking distance that is not too far? Do any of them have their own shuttles?

The Hilton Anaheim is just to the south of the parks, across Katella, next door to the convention center. Not a bad walk as I recall. But the last time I did it California Adventure wasn't there!

There are a few more Hilton properties in that direction too, but a little further away.

Yes, I believe the Hilton Anaheim is the closest. When we stay off-site, we use our HHonors points as well. Our next trip, we are planning on staying at the older Homewood Suites. The reviews on tripadvisor are favorable and it is only about a 5 minute walk to the Toy Story & Friends shuttle. It's also only 40,000 points per night, I believe.

We looked at the hilton but the dates we wanted were insane points wise like over 100k a night we ended up doing double tree for 40k a night.

Thank you, We have never done the shuttle as we stayed at GCH or FFI. How difficult is the shuttle as far as how often it runs to hotels etc

They run continuously. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to catch the shuttle in. The only time the wait is long for the shuttle is returning from the park right after fireworks, world of color etc. I'm lazy though, and by the end of the night, I'd much rather wait 15 minutes for a shuttle instead of walking back to the hotel ;)

We stayed at DoubleTree suites and loved it. Most mornings we'd walk to the park (about 20 min) then take ART back at night. Last Aug we stayed at Embassy Suites, needless to say the only things we liked was the free breakfast and knowing what time the hotel shuttle left from there and DL. For our upcoming trip I'm trying to get us into the new Homewood suites which is a bit closer than the DoubleTree. DH and I are much happier travelers when we have our own bedroom and kids can sleep in the living room!

I'm curious about Embassy Suites, what did you not like about it as this is one we are considering.

We stayed at the Hilton in August. It was us (2 adults 3 kids) and my parents in 2 rooms that were connected. The rooms are SMALL and the bathroom is very weird with a non locking sliding door and you could feel the room was on a slant. But we got the room for $108 a night, so it was fine.

The ART line for the Hilton only stops at the Hilton and the Marriott right across the street. I think the longest we waited was 5 mins. The bus drivers were very nice and even waved us over while at the Marriott so we could run across the street and not have to wait for another bus. We did walk two mornings because we had early breakfast reservations and it was fine. But the walk back the one night we stayed late for PTN was a bit too long of a walk for DS6.

It was very dated, the atrium style hotel is just not our thing. The noise just carries all the way up and you can hear it in the room. The elevators were ALWAYS out of service. Usually only 1 or 2 out of the 4 would be working. One day housekeeping left an entire bag of garbage in our room, you know the one they use to dump everyone's garbage into??? Totally gross!!! Had problems with our tv and shower also. DH is diamond, the hotel manager was very responsive and we ended up with a free night. On another note it is walking distance to Target which was nice since we were there for a week. We aren't total hotel snobs but do like a more updated look and feel.

Yikes, that would not be fun! Thanks for letting me know

Oooh, this is where we booked for our June trip. Glad to see that you loved it and that the walk isn't that far.

If you plan to use ART there are a couple different bus numbers you can take although I can't remember them offhand. A couple times we did take ART to the park, we would cross the street and start walking towards DL and if we saw a bus coming we'd catch it otherwise we'd just walk all the way. If you catch it outside the hotel it goes further down the road a couple blocks then loops back heading towards DL. Hope you enjoy your stay there!
