Which High Chair?

Hey everyone,

Since a lot of parents on this board are so knowledgeable about baby gear, I thought I would ask...which high chair should we buy? Here are some factors to consider:
1. We're having a girl, but would prefer something uni-sex so we can use it with subsequent children.
2. Space isn't an issue.
3. We don't mind having "kid" looking things in our dining room, as opposed to the all wooden high chair look.
4. Price isn't really a factor, as long as I am getting a high quality product.

Thanks for the input!

We have a Fisher-Price Healthy Care highchair in the Rainforest pattern. It's cute - lots of bright colors. The reason I picked this one was based on recommendations in a book called Baby Bargains. It is a great book. The authors check out just about every brand/model of highchairs, car seats, cribs, clothes, etc and rate them on a number of factors. I almost went with a Peg Perego seat. They're pretty high-end and I hated the Graco highchair that I used to have. After reading about the Peg Perego ones, it seemed like the FP one was better (for me anyway).

Another vote for the Svan, we also got the cushions that go with it, they come in all different colours.
The try cover is great, fits in the dishwasher, and has allowed us to cover the table in Disney stickes without them getting damaged.

We have this high chair for our little princess. I love this high chair. Very easy to clean, I like the pattern, the toys on it are entertaining for her, I love that you can take the top tray off, it reclines...... Just a really good high chair.
I picked this due to all the reviews I read about it and they were right!
Good luck in whatever you decide!!!:)

We had the Peg Perego one. It was okay, but if I could go back in time, I wouldn't have bought it. I would have bought one of the infant to toddler convertible feeding seat things. The ones that sit in a chair and recline for babies and end up as a booster for older kids. And I definitely would have preferred something with an easier padding to wipe out. Actually, no padding at all would have been best. That thing was AWFUL to clean. And the tray is really too big to put in the dishwasher. So, the booster type seats with the smaller pop off tray would have been easier because the tray would have fit better in the dish washer. The Peg tray fit, but it took up almost the entire dishwasher.

I swear I spent half his baby life cleaning out that high chair. I don't know why they put so much padding and nooks and crannies in those things.

We got the Baby Trend one that was out at the time, although the pattern has changed since then. As a PP mentioned, we got our recommendation from the Baby Bargains book by the Fields. This one came in #2 to the Fisher Price chair mentioned above, but DH and my mom both liked the BT one better & I didn't feel like arguing between #1 &#2 on their recommendation list.

I have an Ikea chair, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It is not bulky and is very easy to clean. I also like that I can take out my DD without removing the tray (although this feature causes a bit of space between my DD and the tray). Plus, it is inexpensive. The chair and tray are purchased separately, but the total is under $25.

There is a pad if you need one for younger babies (although that is one of the things that I love about this chair - no pad for food to get stuck in those crevices that are so difficult to clean).

I'm a fan of the Baby Bargains book, too. Here's the web site (the message boards are great)...

Enjoy!

I had the peg one for my son and HATED it- what a Pain to clean. This time around, went with FP healthy care one and it was terrific. My dd didn't love the highchair so we moved her into the Stokke at a pretty early age. I love our stokke.

I have had the Healthy Care chair for 3 years. While I do love it for the most part, I think the fabric ruffle around the back of the seat is silly, unnecessary and quite a pain to clean. It's fine when they're real little but really a pain with messy toddlers.

I do love how easy the tray and padding is to clean and how comfy the kiddies are in it. Also, the seat reclines and the whole chair lowers so you can pull it up to the table more easily.

get one with wheels and is easy to rip out the layers to wash
don't spend too much money. It is a high-chair, not an IRA! ;)
