Which of the DVC resorts have places where you can take your toddler and do kid-focused things? :confused3

Especially looking for places staffed with Cast Members who direct or facilitate activities for kids. (Doesn't Saratoga Springs have a place like this).

We will have one parent there at all times, so we're not thinking of a place where we'd drop the Little General off while Mom and Dad go play.

On our upcoming visit, we won't be staying in a DVC resort.

What are good places to visit, and good places to avoid?

Thanks in advance...

the community hall at SSR, BWV, OKW and new AKV - have stuff for kids to do - but most of it is for older kids.

but that is definitely the place to ask.

that say don't expect alot for toddlers. even the kids club won't take toddlers.

I don't think there are any activities for toddlers at all. Dad, you get to be creative and entertain the kid yourself, I guess. Good luck.

My toddler loved playing at the Communtiy Hall at BWV and SSR. There were books, toys, games, puzzles, coloring, etc. He also enjoyed the playgrounds. He even enjoyed the arcade and pretending he was driving the cars and playing the video games.

Also you mention that you wont even be staying at a DVC.

Not sure you can even drop the older kids off at a DVC if you aren't staying there. :confused3

yea at SSR they were in that other room (not the ones where you do the crafts) coloring.

so there are some things.

but not the organized activties that the older kids (and adults) get.

also isn't the unbirthday party for these and older kids?

Simba's Playhouse and the place at the Poly or Wilderness (I forget which)? Isn't that EXACTLY what these places are? I sure hope so. I have Simba's booked for our 4 YO DD for an adults' night out in June. :)

I think the OP is looking for guided children's activities similar to the Epcot Kidcot stations, but geared for smaller children and at DVC resorts, not childcare.

Not sure but I'd guess their member card would be all that's necessary if even necessary at all :confused3 ( personally, we have never had to show our card at any CH we've taken kids to over the years & can't say I recall seeing it done by anyone). At BWV CH this summer a mom came in with 2 kids and CMs led them right over to activity taking place & she even volunteered they were staying at CSR. If a CH is at capacity then actually staying at a DVC resort may be raised.

We're looking for places that offer guided activities for toddlers (with the parent present), OR things that a parent and their toddler can do themselves.

We plan to visit in August, and we want to take the Little Gunner to places that have things he can do...preferably out of the shimmering August heat of Florida. Pools, arcades, places with games that toddlers can play, puppet shows and other toddler-friendly entertainment...all of that is of interest to us.

That'd be at Community Hall's : SSR, OKW, BWV & AKV (iirc BLT will have CH as well when it opens). If you're looking for activities that are organized & led by a CM that varies & sometimes there aren't organized activities at all depending upon what daily schedule is. Also some activities do have a fee to be paid to participate and sometimes you will need to reserve a spot in advance so you may want to call day before to the various CHs to see if there is something you want to attend that requires reservation so you & your child aren't disappointed. Often though what's happening at CHs is more like just a walk in and amuse yourself ie, color, play table game or video game or watch video. Sometimes poolside activity is scheduled.

You may also want to inquire at Fort Wilderness Resort if they organize any kids activities during the day; I know they have cane pole fishing at FWR and at POR/FQ, forget pole rental fee but think it's approx $6 and you can probably find a cool, shady spot to have some fun doing this. Check out Pop Century too; there's lots of cool memoribilia for kids to look at from when us oldies were kids and they've got a cool sitting area opposite check-in desk where the have Dis TV & videos to watch and huge icons (yo-yo's, rubik's cube, big wheel, Mickey phone etc.) throughout property are great photo spots and you can pretty much walk in shaded areas along the buildings.

I'm sure you'll discover many fun adventures :goodvibes Enjoy!!

Most of these activities are for older kids and not toddlers (2-4 yr olds). You will want to check out Playhouse Disney at DHS. You also want to check out the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playarea. At AK, you want to try out the Boneyard over at Dinoland. At MK, there is a Pooh's play area opposite Pooh's Honeypots.

Don't forget about Tikes Peak at Blizzard Beach - geared for little ones. I think there is also an area at Typhoon Lagoon for little ones.

Good point Deb - child being toddler didn't register with me (or I would've just suggested my favorite afternoon activity for a toddler : have them take a nap! :rotfl:)

Hey, that's my favorite adult activity, too. :thumbsup2

We were just at AKL this past winter and I think our toddler was too young for the scheduled activities, but since they weren't overcrowded, she was allowed to try most of them too (with the 5 yr old big sister). They frosted cookies, played Africa Drums, stuff like that.

The little one also loved the playgrounds at the resorts (as well as in the parks) and other silly, simple stuff, like trying to hit the tether balls at Fort Wilderness. The big sand area at OKW was a hit for our 3 year old a few years ago.

I am looking forward to trying the CH at SSR this summer with our 5 year old.
