Hi guys. Well we are about one month out on our trip. I like I-95, but wonder if I-75 is easier? I live in east TN and can take either. The distance to Disney is with in 10 miles, so it is hard for me to decide. What are your all pro's and con's to the different interstate routes? The only thing I dislike about I-95 is this -- to get there I must take 40 through the curvy North Carolina mountains... HATE IT! but I love that I-4 off of 95 is a straight shot and no tolls at all!!!!!!

I-75 is a straight shot to, but I am afraid of ATL and I really dont know much about it past that point. I know I can avoid the toll roads, but will that get me lost???

Thanks

I am in East TN as well and we always take I75, but Dh always drives so I don't have to fool with the ATL roads which also scare me. I would rather go 75 than 95 though because those curvy roads make me sooooooo sick. At least in ATL they are going so fast that it goes by fast..:rotfl2:

You can always count on I 75 to make your trip exciting with their lovely road construction too!

I would take I-75 any day over 95. I've driven both ways, from NH to FL on 95 the whole way and from Ohio several times down to Disney on 75. I just like that there are fewer "big" cities to get through on 75 and as for construction, to me it's always a toss up where you'll run into. That's just my 2 cents though. How bout you take one way down to FL and one way back home?

I vote for I-75. Just did the trip from Kentucky and going through Atlanta was absolutely no problem. You can route around the city too if that concerns you. Had to drive DGS home to NH all the way up 95 and I do NOT like that road. The traffic and construction were awful.

I use to live off of I95 in NC. Seemed like the drug road from miami to NYC. Every where you go on 95 in either direction there were cops with people pulled over searching the cars for MILES!!! Ive never been on 75, but if you dont have to go over the mountains......id try it once!!!

I travel I75 to Orlando quite frequently. When you are on the toll road from I75 to Orlando there is a new "cut off" interstate type road (not toll) that takes you just west of WDW not too far from Animal Kingdom. I am sure you can find in on MapQuest....it really cuts off a lot of time by being able to avoid downtown Orlando.

I concur! I've driven up and down 95 and 75 umpteen times this year and 75 is just a much *easier* drive. Less traffic, fewer hills (at least to Ohio), better rest stops. I get better mileage, too.

I75 to the FL turnpike to the "newer" Western Way road. I have to look up the road number/exit. It leads straight into Disney. Very low traffic and you avoid that I4 mess all together.

Most of the construction in GA is slowed down/on hold. Plus I think there is construction on I95 now. The real experts live on the The transportation board so you may want to post there also.

UPDATE: Toll Route 429, also known as the Western Way. Take I-75 to Florida's Turnpike. Take exit 276A (Route 429) going south toward Orlando/Disney I'm not sure what the signs say there. Continue to Western Way/Hartzog Road and Disney signage I think it's exit 8.

You can also get off this to I4, the Lake Buena Vista area and International Drive.

My grandson loves to stop at the FL Welcome Center for his free OJ and collecting his "maps" of all the fun things to do. He also likes to stand on the spot that is Orlando on the FL map on the floor.

And just plan on paying the tolls...I'd much rather pay a toll than sit/drive in traffic going to WDW. I think they tolls will be around $6 or $7 total.

Another vote for I-75. One of the best things about moving to Georgia from NC was that we no longer have to take I-95 to Florida! The Western Way into Disney from the Turnpike is awesome! It is a toll road though, I think there is one plaza. There is some construction in S. Georgia right now, but it isn't too bad especially if you are not driving on a big travel day. Atlanta really isn't that bad, just take I-285 if you really don't want to go downtown. Avoiding rush hour times is critical though....

We live in WV and take pick up I-95 in SC every year on the way to Florida. I always feel like it's really busy. In February I had to drive from WV to Atlanta and took I-75 through Tennessee and GA, it did not seem to be nearly as crazy as I-95.
