Sent this through AI just to see what would pop out. Yeah I know some people hate AI and I'm actually on the fence about but here we are.

Neither island is definitively "better"; the choice depends on the type of experience a traveler wants.
Castaway Cay
is ideal for a classic, relaxed, and highly themed Disney experience with calm water, while
Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point
offers a more culturally immersive Bahamian experience with an open-ocean beach and modern facilities.

Key Differences
Vibe & ThemingClassic, laid-back Disney "castaway" backstory; feels like an extension of the ship experience.Culturally rich, celebrates Bahamian art and Junkanoo culture with vibrant decor; feels more like an authentic destination.
Beach & WaterBeaches are in a protected cove, so the water is very calm and safe for young children.Open ocean beaches with clearer water and potential for waves; some less crowded areas available.
AccessibilityVery easy access; ships dock nearby, with short walks or immediate tram access to amenities.Requires a long walk (about 0.6 miles) along an exposed pier to reach the main island hub and tram station, which can be a time commitment.
ActivitiesFeatures a 5K running/biking route, Pelican Plunge water slides, a stingray adventure, and structured teen/tween clubs.Offers the "RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration" parade, a cultural center with crafts, nature trails, and a different style of kids' splash area (Rush Out Gush Out).
FoodStandard, satisfying American BBQ fare (burgers, ribs, chicken) across three buffet locations.More varied menu with authentic Bahamian dishes alongside classic options, offering a unique culinary experience.
ShadeMore mature trees and established shaded areas due to its age.Newer development with less natural shade available on the beaches.

Which is "Better" For You?
  • Choose
    Castaway Cay
    if:
You want a seamless, ultra-convenient, classic Disney beach day with calm water, mature shade, and easy access for all mobility levels, especially young children.
  • Choose
    Lookout Cay
    if:
You prefer a more natural, beautiful beach experience with opportunities for bigger waves, are interested in learning about Bahamian culture, enjoy a wider variety of food, and don't mind a longer walk to amenities.
Ultimately, both are highly rated destinations that provide the quality service expected from Disney Cruise Line, so you cannot go wrong with either choice. Some itineraries even offer stops at both islands in the same sailing

The AI is certainly right if you also look at this from an 18+ beach standpoint. Castaway Cay is truly separate from the family beach while Lookout Cay is closer to the family beach, thus being prone to mix in and a reduction in relaxation.

Not with the new cabanas opened right next tot eh adult area. Such a bummer they chose that spot when they have an entire island! The adult beach area at Lookout is also kind of a joke. They should have made it where the family cabanas are at Mabrika Cove.

Ai is the worlds best fence sitter. Hopeless.

I, for one, am a HUGE fan of our friendly yet indecisive soon to be AI overlords.

In all seriousness, I thought the summary was very good. I’ve been to Castaway Cay about 10x and Lighthouse Point 3x and the only other thing I’d add is that it’s harder to find chairs *on the beach* at Lighthouse and also it feels like it shuts down much earlier, which really compresses the day for those of us who don’t wake early on vacation.
