Wife, 9yo girl and I:

Which deluxe hotel at WDW is best :

Animal Kingdom Lodge, BoardWalk Inn, Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, Yacht Club and Beach Club, and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin.

Which one for best :
monorail access to theme parks
night fireworks viewing
king beds
kid themes

Kangarooo!

There are only three that have monorail access...directly from resort.

Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian,

All others have some combo of boat and bus.... Wilderness Lodge, Yacht Club and Beach Club, and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin.

IF this is your first priority...monorail access to theme parks

you are going to want to pick the aforementioned first three. CR, PLY GF

Good luck! :)

the monrail only goes to Epcot and the MK.

it does not go to Studio, Ak or DTD.

if your budget can take it - Polyn. It does not have king beds.

the only non-suite MK resort that has king beds is VWL, in the 1-bedroom DVC part.

do you really need a king bed? oh even if the resort does have king bed in a room it only allows 2 not 3.

if two queens would work - then Polyn.

if not - and you still want MK resort - then 1-bedroom VWL - these are a real 1-bedroom with a king in the master and a queen sleeper sofa in the livingroom. you can get them from CRO (disney) or a DVC member - the member is cheaper - but Disney (DVC) won't get involved.

now the values and moderates have king beds - but again only 2 are allowed in the room because of the king bed. So you would need 2 rooms.

Make sure to check the DISNEY RESORT BOARD. You can get tons of information and feedback as well as reviews on all of the Disney resorts.:thumbsup2

YC/BC, BW, S/D are all close to Epcot and Studios. You can walk or take the boat. Although the monorail is a greet transport method, we also love taking the boat and having the option to walk to the parks as well. The Epcot resorts allow you to use the methods just mentioned to Epcot & Studios but you would have to take a bus to MK and AK from those resorts. You can also go to Epcot through the Int'l Gateway, walk to the front, take the monorail to the TTC and then transfer to MK.

Although we enjoy MK we've always found ourselves in Epcot more (since it's so big) and the Studios. We also love the dining options in the Epcot resort area (we usually stay at the S/D there) as well as the nightly entertainment on the BW. Just something to do other than the parks at night.;)
