Any advice or preferences, pros/cons about deck location, room category, near elevator etc.????
I am planning a first time cruise for a family of 4 w/kids ages 6 & 9.

last year we had a 3&5 yr old and had 6556 which was right near the mid-ship elevators on 6. The very best thing about it was the kid's clubs being right down the stairs. It was great for running up to the pool, drink station or Topsiders and great for walking down for dinner, the theater and shows.

This year we're doing Deck 2 near the rear.

Honestly I don't think it really matters. You're not on the ship to spend loads of time in the room and as long as you can manage a couple of flights of stairs (which does help off-balance the food) nothing is too far away.

We are partial to Deck 7 aft. It's quiet, only two floors up to Topsiders and the pools and the drink station, and only two floors down to the kids floor, Buena Vista Theater, etc. Very convenient.

This will be our third time on deck 5, aft. I love that location, because I always seem to do a lot of running back and forth to the kids' club. You know, "Mom, I forgot my nametag!" or "Mom, I need to take this back to the room!" That kind of thing. Frequently. LOL Plus, being aft, it's just a flight of stairs straight down to Animator's Palate, two down to Parrot Cay, and a ride straight up on the aft lifts to the Mickey pool. And it's nice and quiet. I love it!

Right Doctor P!

We stayed on Deck 7 last year and it was so convenient as we dined at Topsiders almost every morning which as also close to the pool and other activities.

But I agree too, that it really does not matter.

This year we stayed on 2 midship, and it was great too!

Having to take multiple flights of stairs helps burn off the tons of extra calories consumed at all the buffets!

:D

well ill give it a shot... dont know what cat u would like or if u would like a verandah or not but here r a couple of well know disney secrets about the ship.....
on deck 5 there r six rooms they sell as cat 10
witch is a deluxe inside stateroom , but it has a porthole
if u would like to see pictures go to www.castawayclub.com
and look under staterooms and u can see picture of what we all call Secret Porthole Rooms #5020 5022 5024, 5520 5522 5524

if u would like a verandah cat 7 there r 4 rooms
that Disney sells as a Navagators verandah but r actually
a regular verandah slightly obstructed due to the curve of the ship also listed at that site we stayyed in 7120 and found this room to be just fine and we have also stayyed in secret porthole room on deck 5 on several occ.

u may ask disney for a certain room when u book your cruise if they have u can have or your travel agent can ask however u book..... good luck as for locations on the ship it does not matter much we have stayyed all over.........

We like aft first and deck 5 second. Nice to be able to run down to the room and not have to wait on the lift. It's right down the hall and quiet.

I will have to say that one of the worst cabins have to be the ones across from the laundry. They can get crowded noisy and laundry lint was everywhere not to mention the heat from the dryers. Maybe it was the time we went 9 or 10pm, but it reminded me of the old college days (busy at odd hours)!

deck 5,6, or 7 aft cause its closer to the food and the pools the kids love so much. and i found on deck 6 it was quite (6652) my next cruise (7628). this should be helpful information for you

Deck 6 between the mid and forward elevators is a great compromise (heck, not really a compromise) between the kids programs (several times a day), evening shows, atrium, spa, and night spots. Anything behind the aft elevators or forward of the forward elevators just being farther from everything else without much benefit walking-wise - though there may be other benefits.

You do lose out on proximity to the beverage station and mickey pool, but my 7,9 kids went to the pool once. The buffet and two other restaurants were farther, but that's only once a day.

Once nice thing was that the Lab was so close that we got comfortable enough to let our son switch to self sign-in after a couple of days.

And you can go cheap or not with or without verandah.

Deck 6 Forward. We have a 6yo and an 11yo and we were at 6032 near the elevators, close to the clubs (which they never want to leave) and to the Disney Theatre - you'd want to be there early when they have the kids program called Discover the Magic on stage.

We were in room 6116- great location. It is near the aft elevators and stairs. It was convient to walk up to Topsiders in the morning. It was suprising quiet.:)
