Help me decide which day to go to MK?!? Sunday Jan 27 (with a am EMH) OR on a Mon Jan 28 (no am EMH but Disney after dark that evening which we won’t be participating). Is a Mon less busier than a Sun enough to miss out on an extra hour in the am. Does Disney after dark affect crowds earlier in the day?

TIA!

We find EMH days to typically be busier, so we usually avoid them.

Do you have park hoppers?

Disney after hours won’t affect crowds at all so don’t be worried about that. We personally like morning emh because you can get a lot done. Morning emh are usually better than evening because most people won’t show up until around 9-10 am. Just make sure you are actually getting there to make good use of that time. If you don’t plan on using emh then I would go Monday.

The parkhopper option needs to be your guide as to whether you stay at one park or have the option of hopping.

I would do Sunday and make sure you arrive at the park in time to use all of the AM EMH, you'll get many rides in that way. I can't remember which Blog had the numbers, but it seems that Monday is actually busier then Sunday now.
Also the park closes "early" end of January, so I'd do Sunday so I'm not rushed out of the park at closing

Does Disney after dark affect crowds earlier in the day?

Disney After Hours has, to date, not created a notable/material increase in park crowds. DAH ticket holders can enter the park at 7pm officially (6pm'ish in practice), so yes... there is some crossover traffic late in the evening... but historically it hasn't been enough to really worry about and/or impact your experience.

(I'd probably vote for the Sunday myself, but I'm not sure it really matters all that much)

Thank you all! You were so helpful. I chose Sun, and signed up for fast passes this am! We do not have the park hopper. So we chose Sun and we plan to get there for rope drop to take full advantage of the EMH on Sun.

That's what I'd be doing. I do not think EMH makes an appreciable difference in crowds anymore like it used to honestly.

That makes sense, also I have heard that on event days, it is no longer a low crowd day like it used to be.

We try to get there 45 min-1 hour before the park opens. It usually works really well for us. We’ve often been the very first people on rides.

I’d pick Sunday too if you can take advantage of EMH.

Has something changed with Disney after hours? We went the first year it was offered and they didn’t “rush” anyone out at closing just refused to admit them to any rides or sell them ice cream/sodas from the carts that were set up for after hours attendees. It’s not like the parties where cast members sweep through the lands and push people toward the exits. Since the park is closed and people can’t get on the rides they naturally make their way to Main Street. I know the emporium was open until really late that night because we had bought a shirt and realized we needed to exchange it due to a defect. The park closed at 10 and we went to the emporium probably around midnight to handle the exchange.

No, they don’t push people out of the park like they do at the parties. It’s still like it was for you in January. Most people do end up leaving but some stay and walk around
