It looks like I may have my first chance to see the holiday decorations in WDW in 2005. Need some help though...which dates would you pick? Last 10 days in Nov; last 5 in Nov, first 5 in Dec; or all 10 days first week of Dec?

When are the best rates and do AP rates come out for any of these dates?

I'd go with that first week of December, by all means. More empty rooms mean more discounts. Remember, US thxgiving is set for 24 November in 2005 (unlike your October Cdn thxgiving), so there will be NO discounts then, and end November is pretty dead, but not as dead as December. So definately those first 10 days in December.

As for when AP codes come out for those dates, check www.mousesavers.com for the dates AP rates have come out in the past.

Good luck, and happy planning.

I'd pick the first 10 days in December because my DH and I spent the first 12 days in December in WDW back in 2002, and it was fabulous!! No lines at all, great weather, beautiful decorations, and wonderful resort discounts since it is value season. I do believe that AP discounts have been offered at that time in the past.

Hope this helps, and have a fun time planning!

Thank you for the quick responses-definitely helps!

Looking into it right now (think I'll start with airfare).

When does value season start in December 2005?

I was at WDW this year from Dec 1-14 and it was great as far as crowds were concerned. The decorations were nice and for the most part the weather was ok (warm enough for swimming a couple times the first week, but it really cooled down by the end of the second week.

T&B

We were there from Thurs 12/9 through Mon 12/13 this year and it was DEFINITELY more crowded than I'd anticipated! I'd be tempted to try the week beginning the Sunday after Thankgiving were I lucky enough to visit pre-holiday Disney in the future...

This is past the first 10 days in Dec., but we stayed Dec. 13-17 and it was dead.

In my limited experience, I too would choose the first 10 days in December. We spent December 11 - 20 at WDW this year and it was so quiet until the 17th, after that it was too crowded for our liking. Next year, since we're planning a DCL cruise that leaves on 12/10 so we will do our land days before that. See you there!

Thanks again to everyone-I think I've decided the first 10 days are it!!

What would you do-book now with AAA and hope for AP codes?
If I book two rooms will I have any problems making changes later
on?

Also, what is the weather like-too cold for swimming and waterparks?

I'd go with last 5 in November and first 5 in December. You'll miss Thanksgiving crowds that way and miss most of Pop Warner. If you look on the Theme Park section, there is a long thread about how awful Pop Warner can be. This year it was 12/4-12/11. I was there during that time this year and I didn't have as many problems as some people did, but I will avoid WDW during Pop Warner in the future. I wouldn't book my rooms yet. The more empty rooms, the more likely there will be codes. If a lot of people book and hope for codes, WDW will see the rooms filling and may not offer as many discounted rooms.
