Which comes first - borrowed or current points?

For example, a current UY2014 reservation was made using 150 total points - 100 UY2014 points and 50 points borrowed from UY2015. If the plans were shortened to only need 100 total points - which points are used? Hoping the 50 borrowed points would be used first allowing 50 UY2014 points to still be bankable into UY2015 since the borrowed points are now locked in UY2014. Is this how it works???

It's supposed to be banked - borrowed - current but MS has in the past made mistakes even though we were told that their software won't let that happen.

You need to keep records off line and track what happens to your account.

Thanks guys! Another question: Can points be borrowed for the purpose of transferring to another member? Example - I have 100 current UY points - can I borrow 50 from the next UY and then transfer 150 to another member or is the transfer limited to 100 points? If the borrow is OK, does the borrow have to be done first via a "dummie" reservation that is then canceled or can I just let MS know I want to borrow some points without that step?

Also, will the transfer allow the other member to have 11-month reservation privileges for that resort?

No, you can't transfer points that are banked or borrowed.

However, I've been told (haven't done it myself) that you can transfer current points and your next UY's points.

But the other party would not be able to borrow points from the transferred next UY. They could bank the transferred current UY points.

Make sense? :badpc:

I think this only works if you're transferring 2013 points to their 2013 UY and '14 to '14.

I had tried a transfer for '13 to '14 and they wouldn't transfer the next UY.

I'm under the impression that neither banked nor borrowed points can be transferred.

But, yes, they will have the 11 month advantage with transferred points. But they have to call Member Services to do so.

A word of caution, transferring points might be problematic. The points don't show up in your account and you can't track them. MS has difficulty using them and/or understanding how to use them.

We transferred once, MS lost our reservation trying to figure out how to use the points, it took several phone calls and about a week to fix our account.

Not saying that it happens every time but it happened to us.
