We are going to Disney in march and it will be our first trip. We are on a budget but I do want to do 1 character meal. Our favorite characters are Mickey and friends. Which do you recommend?

Chef Mickey's for breakfast we did this on our first trip and loved it..and the FAB 5 will be there.

Another vote for Chef Mickey's breakfast - a favorite of ours. Since you want to see Mickey & friends, then CM is ideal because you will see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto & Donald. The breakfast buffet is good & CM has a very fun/upbeat atmosphere with occasional monorail passing by overhead.

I think that Mickey just poses for a picture before you are seated, the picture cost extra . I dont think he comes around to the tables anymore. Cant remember were i heard this, but I'm going to verify that Mickey will actually come around the dining room before we book it this coming April.

Chef Mickeys!! my kids loved it! Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Pluto! They all came around to all the tables to pose for a photo and give out hugs. We were there for breakfast. The food was good ,we liked the breakfast buffet at Crystal Palace for food better though but If you want Mickey and the gang go to Chef Mickeys.

The Mickey just posing for a picture before you are seated idea was a 1 week test, which apparently did not go over very well. All indications are that Mickey still goes table to table & it seems it will stay this way. forgot to add they make you pose for a photo when you first go in, it's with mickey statue and says chef mickey's. that is the one they try to selll to you while you are eating.

You dont have to have this picture taken. We go every year so we skip it.:thumbsup2

If you can only have one, without a doubt, Chef Mickey's. If you can't get an ADR or you can budget for a second character meal Donald's Breakfast Safari is a pretty close second IMO. Donald takes a picture with you when you check in. Goofy, Mickey, Daisy and I can't remember if Minnie is there or not come around to the tables.

Thanks I will keep that in mind if we can't get in!

Considering the budget issue, I would say Donalds at Tusker House or Cape May Cafe for breakfast. These are the cheapest character meals. Chef Mickey's is fun, but it is on the more expensive side.

I agree and we felt that both TH and CMC offered better food, service and character interaction.

We really liked our food at Tusker House. The characters were great too. I also love getting an early reservation and entering the park before it's open offers some great photo ops :)

I just had to text a friend who's leaving for WDW tomorrow & eating at CM. I had told her Mickey wasn't coming to the tables anymore, but saw earlier this week that it's back to "normal".

I'd vote for Chef Mickey's as well. Other meals with Mickey were Donald's Safari breakfast, O'hana breakfast, & Garden Grill.

Donald's Safari Breakfast (Tusker House at AK) is good and IMO pretty inexpensive for character meal. But, you don't get to meet Minnie there, or Pluto, if they are important to you. You'll greet and take a pic with Donald, then Daisy, Mickey and Goofy come around to tables.

If you get your ADR around 8:00-8:15 on Extra Magic day when the park opens at 8, you can arrive early (get there by about 7:30-7:45) and then see the opening show at rope drop. Mickey, Minnie and Pluto are in the show if I remember correctly. Then again, if you get your early res on a non-EMH day, then you get to see parts of the park while almost totally empty before opening at 9:00.

Between this and Chef Mickey's you should be able to get something that works for timing and budget. :)

This was brought up in another post. I think he is roaming again - or he better be. I need to meet him at Chef Mickeys! :)

Oh I vote for CM breakfast as well.

I know that it isn't the "fab 5" characters, but we enjoyed the character breakfast we went to at 1900 Park Fare. We got to see Winnie-the-Pooh, Tigger, Alice, and the Mad Hatter. And, Mary Poppins (if I remember correctly). Anyway, it was lots of fun!

If you want Mickey and those characters, then I would vote for the Tusker House breakfast mainly because you can get in to Animal Kingdom before it opens which I think would be way fun.

We've eaten at all the Character meal locations. Chef Mickeys is ok but our favorite is Ohana and friends at the Poly. By far the most character interaction. We wouldnt miss that one for anything. Lilo, stitch, Pluto, and Mickey are always there. That is my suggestion. Very Very fun and good food. We arent buffet people either so this is an even better option for us.... Its Yummy too!!!!!
