Which Caribbean Island?

Based on what you said I pick Turks and Caicos or Aruba.

Alright, when I suggested Bora Bora I didn't notice "Caribbean" in the title. I checked the OP, but not the title. Dangit. Sorry. :)

I've cruised all over the Caribbean. My favorite stop was Dominica. Gorgeous!!! And everyone there is so friendly.

Our least fave was jamaica.

While we love Dominica because we prefer islands that aren't really commercialized, I think it would be hard to spend a week there with kids. I'm also pretty sure there aren't any all inclusive resorts or major hotels there.

We will be going to Punta Cana in 10 days. Never been there before but everyone I talk to who has, loved it.
We love Punta Cana. We'll be going for our 3rd time in August.

The thing that our kids love most is that there is a game room at the resort that they can go to each night. They meet a lot of other kids that way and then they have friends to hang with during the day.

My kids are 13 and 14 now and I know they'll get back to our room after we do at night... when the game room closes.

Saint Thomas has a pirate tour area, that would be fun for the kids.

We are actually deciding right now between St. Thomas and Grand Cayman...anyone have a suggestions as to which we should go with?

We are in our early 30's, no kids, reasonably well-traveled, going for 4 nights.

Thanks!

St Thomas has great beaches and good shopping. We just did a duck tour there and had a lot of fun. Here's a link that discusses St Thomas.

Grand Caymen has lots of activities like swimming with the stingrays, turtle farm, butterfly farm. Here's a link for Caymen Islands.

You'll have fun no matter which you go to.

TURKS AND CAICOS!!!

Based on your post, safe, non-partying, beautiful beaches....
Yep... Grace Bay on Providenciales Turks and Caicos!

That would be my next 'dream beach vacation'.
Hands down!!!

Anyone who has been there (even the well travelled) say they have never seen clearer/bluer water with whiter/softer sand beaches.

If you want a behemoth mega resort (with the kids) look into Beaches Turks and Caicos.
If you just want a nice beautiful full condo/resort on one of the best sections of Grace Bay... look here:

One of my dream choices would be here:

www.PointGrace.com

Happy planning!

PS: NO offense to the earlier posters... I have heard that there are incredible resorts on Punta Cana...
But, just looking at the online photos shows the incredible difference between the beaches and the water between this island and Turks.

If you want safe and upscale, then another choice with incredible water and beaches might be Grand Cayman.

There are a couple AI's but probably not as nice as Beaches, I remember looking on tripadvisor when preparing for our trip and the hotels seemed pretty reasonably priced and families reported lots of activities that they did. There just aren't many beaches.

I've found St. Thomas to be beautiful with amazing beaches. Probably cheaper to fly there.

ETA:
I wish we had seen more of Turks & Caicos. We did a kayaking tour and it was on a lake. Wish I had seen more of the ocean.

Really enjoyed Grand Cayman.

I'd like to elaborate on my last post. Beaches, Turks and Caicos would likely be my first choice. I just returned from there last month. They have everything and anything to make you comfortable and spoiled. The food is amazing and the activities are tops and well done. Very pampering vacation and the kids had a ball!

As has been mentioned you would be hard pressed to find another Caribbean area that could offer similar beaches and water, they are magnificent. The new Italian Village section is outstanding. I do also like The French Village very much too - just depends on the room type that fits you best. (there are so many)

I have also been to Grand Cayman many times and can easily see this fulfilling your wants in a location. Beaches are beautiful, nightlife is not so much if you are looking for that. Some of the nest meals we have ever had were in Grand Cayman. Plenty to offer the kids especially if they are into water sports, scuba, snorkel and such.

Aruba is great, Nightlife, great food, Casino beautiful low-rise and high-rise accommodations and some all inclusive also. Have a peek on Trip Advisor to see what appeals most to you and go from there.

Punta Cana and The Dominican Republic keeps popping up and I agree there are some very lovely properties, especially La Romano Casa De Campo. We were there in May for my husbands 50th we also stayed at La Romana Dreams, all very nice.

I guess making a list of wants for your trip would help in narrowing your options down. So much fun to plan a trip! :) Have Fun. Let us know what you have decided.

My picks, in order, would be:

1. St. Vincent/Young Island www.youngisland.com
2. St. John
3. St. Lucia
4. St. Kitts
5. Turks & Caicos

With children I would also consider St. Thomas. They have some beautiful beaches and there's lots to do. DH and I find it a bit too commercialized for us.

This is a great list. For ease of travel, I'd remove St. Vincent and add Grand Cayman.
Thorough research for accomodations is so important. Westin St. John won't disappoint although I prefer Maho Bay(R U adventurers?) for it's amazing snorkeling and hillside location. It's an eco-resort(truly) and very primitive. The Harmony villas help as they have private baths. Take a look at it! Not your traditional resort but amazing!
