I need a new car, but I can't make up mind. What do you think?

I drive 40 miles round-trip to work (mostly interstate). I'm a school teacher. We live in an area with hills, valleys, mountains, open spaces, jammed city streets, and interstates. We get quite a bit of rain but very little snow. I've driven all of them and I like them all.

Any posts about experience with any of these would be most helpful.

Thanks!

Mazda or Toyota from your list. The European cars have not been doing well for reliablity lately.

I choose the Jetta. I like the looks of it, and my friend has one, and is very pleased with it.

Stay away from the Jetta. Its a piece of JUNK!! We just got rid of our 2001 GLS. I loved it in the beginning, but then the warranty ran out - which is only 2 years, btw. We had SO many electrical problems. I'm so happy to be rid of it. Check out the latest Consumer Reports Car Buyers Issue for more info on the rotten track record of the Jetta. Go Toyota!!

Good luck getting a Prius! I ordered one in November and just got it. I am really loving it, but I still can't figure out lots of the cool things it can do. My gas mileage is amazing--around 45 mpg. It is truly a remarkable car.

I chose the Mazda 6. I have a Mazda 626 which the Mazda 6 replaced. Let me tell you, I love this car. Very reliable, good on gas, and very minimal problems.

I had a Jetta for 10 years or so, I loved that car. It gets my vote.

I vote for the Mini Cooper because I want one :teeth:
I drive a P.T. Cruiser and I'm dying to buy the Mini . My husband does not want me in anything smaller then the Cruiser:(

I'd go with the Toyota. Very reliable car.::yes::

I voted for the Prius because I am a company man (been with Toyota for 13 years), but if you can get into a Corolla you will be just as well off. It is, after all, the #1 selling car of all time :)

I have a friend who drives a Cooper, If I didnt have 2 kids in car seats I would buy one, I love this car it handles like its on rails this is the most fun I've had driving a car and its suprisingly roomy, I say go take it and the other s on a test drive. Driving on twisting roads and thru Boston traffic no problem!

Gotta second this. I know it's not on your list, but I love my Corolla. I've had it for 7 years and have never had a problem with it. It gets great gas mileage and is completely reliable.

Mazdas are the less expensive version of honda and Toyota. I have owned three and they all have been great cars. I only changed to Hyundai because of 100,000 mile warranty!
