Planning my first trip to HH this summer. Wanting to get a one bedroom. Will be me, DH, DS-4, and DS-7. Where is the best place to stay?

Most 1 BR Villas are in buildings 11, 12. There are only 21 total at the resort and 16 of them are in those 2 buildings. View choices are Marsh View, Island View or Pool View, but no 1BR's's have a view of the pool.

IMO, there are no bad locations or buildings at the resort, so don't get too hung up on your location.

Here is a <a href="http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=226883">HH Resort </a> report that may help.

Have a great trip!!

Thanks for the info Doc. We will be heading to HH for the first time next summer and this information comes in handy.
Just out of curiosity, was I reading the configuration numbers correctly? Are there really almost 4 times as many 2br as 1br and studios?!? (76 compared to 21)

Why would that be? Is the ratio that high at the other resorts?
Thanks again:D

HH has a total of 102 villas. 5 are GV's, 21 are lock-off 2BR's and the remainder are dedicated 2BR villas.

The ratio is certainly different than other DVC resorts, but HH is primarily a family destination and 2BR accommodations are the most requested accommodation. The size of the resort dictates the room configuration.

Enjoy!

The family angle makes sense...it just seemed like a disproportionately high number of dedicated 2br when I first saw the figure. I wonder if they had it to do over again if they would create a resort with the same numbers? It just seems that lock-offs would give them more flexibility. Well either way, we are excited about our first trip to HH and genuinely appreciate all of the information and insight you provide.:D

Although we've only been to HHI once so far, we stayed in a 1 BR on the third floor of the Lodge building and loved it for the location and view. We'd love to have the same room again when we go in February.

DH and I are excited about our annual visit to Hilton Head in a few weeks. This will be the first time we are staying in a one bedroom unit and I'm hoping for a villa in the main lodge. We're staying on cash this trip and originally had a two bedroom booked. I checked back a few times and was able to downgrade to a one bedroom with the member discount. We didn't want to take up a villa that sleeps 8 for just 2 people so I'm glad we were able to book the one bedroom for this trip.
