I posted this on the Just for Fun forum but I don't think that was the right place?!!?

We are hoping to do a day at the beach on the way home. We will be taking I-95 up to Georgia. Does anyone have a suggestion of a quiet (i.e. not Daytona) beach along that route? TIA!!!

Just head straight out 520 and go to Ron Jon Surf Shop. Park and walk out to Cocoa Beach.

I think that would actually take them out of their way(??). If you don't want to go to Daytona and you'd be heading north up 95- then how about St. Augustine?

St augustine is nice - but I really don't like the Atlantic beaches.

i like my sand to be nice, white and soft - not brown and have rocks around it...

but my brother loves it - he lives almost on the beach - other side of A1A.

We live on Lake Erie here, and our beaches make the Atlantic Ocean beaches look like paradise.

Whoever said that Atlantic beaches are brown and have rocks around it hasn't been to the ones by me??? I've been all down the northeast coast of Florida. Ours are beautiful and white with sawgrass and dunes. We haven't had any major hurricanes unlike the panhandle, so our sand it not dredged and our dunes are still natural. At least northern Florida. Our sand is more hard-packed (you can drive on it in some areas) compared to the panhandle, and our water is more grey-blue and not bright blue like the panhandle.

I live about 30 miles from St Augustine, and I'd highly recommend Anastasia Island State Park. It's clean, has facilities and soft white sand. It's just beautiful!! It's about 10 miles off I-95, you can google it for directions. It's very easy to get to. I personally wouldn't recommend Jax beach or Atlantic beach, because I enjoy Anastasia Island too much!!

Also, Fernandina Beach (Amelia Island) is very nice, a little off I-95. There are also the islands of southern GA, (the Golden Isles)

This picture is in winter, BTW, so it was slightly overcast and windy.
