Hi, I'm going to Disney World in May. It's my first trip in 10 years and I'm so excited. :cool1:

I love taking pictures of everything and plan to do this in Disney. I know I won't be taking pictures while on Splash Mountain or Test Track and some of the other 'big' rides. Which rides can I photograph? Does Disney allow flash photography. Please help me put together a list of rides that it would be okay to take pictures on.

Also, can I take photos at shows?

Thank you all for your help!

Colleen

Taking flash pictures in attractions is very disruptive to the other guests in the attraction.

"Pirates" and "Haunted Mansion", for instance, have a very dark atmosphere.
If a flash goes off, it can destroy the delecate special effects and "mood" of the ride for 20-50 other people in that general area.

The main reason Disney requests no FLASH is for courtesy to other guests (and not for "copyright" reasons.)

Many attractions announce that VIDEO taping is fine... but NO FLASH photos or video LIGHTS.

And then there are those "special" people who take flash pictures of MOVIES, like Mickey's Philharmagic.
I wish for them all that they deserve. ;)

Thanks Robo. I don't plan on using a flash, espcially in the dark rides that you mentioned. I promise I won't be one of those annoying people using her flash at inappropiate times. ;) I am just wondering if what Disney's policy is in general. Thanks for your response!

Most shows, Cinderellabration, Beauty and the Beast ON STAGE, Fantasmic!, Festival of the Lion King, DO allow pictures.
Again, that FLASH can be distracting and is discouraged and no video LIGHTS.

Country Bears and Tiki Room are unique... they annouce to wait until the "finale" when all the performers are out and "on-stage" at once to take flash shots.

Test track, for instance is a bit ROUGH and FAST for pix, but there's no restrictions (but no flash, please.)

Tower of Terror... no PIX or video, please.

The parades are all FAIR GAME for any kind of pix, flash and video are OK, but no video LIGHTS.

The DAK Safari and animal "trails" are great for pictures and video.

But, if its a "dark ride" (most ARE) then no flash at all, but stills and video are OK in several of them.

You mentioned that you won't take pictures on Splash-why not?! Only kidding but seriously ,the drop apart, photos from Splash turn out great, all to do with the colours I think-they use similar colours on Peter Pan but good photos are harder there as you are moving faster! I would say that an easy rule of thumb would be don't try photos on any ride that is dark or uses visual effects
HTH SD :thumbsup2

One of my favorite videos of all times is on Test Track. I put the camera on right before we burst through the door and ran it through the whole outside run.....great fun!

One option for those dark rides is to buy postcards. I know it's not the same as your own but if you're doing it for the memory of the ride you can always clip the postcards for you albums.

I think (my opinion) it's totally acceptable to take pictures while waiting on any of the more scenic lines.....like the interior the Buzz Lighyear Space Ranger Spin where there's a Giant Buzz...I say flash away. Nobody's on the ride yet.

If you want a pic. of the kids on Peter Pan, let them get in the ship first and grab a shot of them in the ship while on the runway (before you enter the ride) - you can hop in and enjoy the attraction with picture taken!

Are there any rides in particular you're thinking about?
