Which areas of your town do you try to avoid?

My city is more than 355 square miles. I feel safe in most of the city but there are neighborhoods that I drive through and try to avoid stopping in.

I live in a lovely largely rural community and there’s no where in my own small town that I’d feel unsafe going. There are definitely parts of London that I wouldn’t want to go to though - especially in the dark.

I live in a city that regularly is labeled as one of the most dangerous in the country. I only go to about 15% of the city - and yes I live in the city, work in the city and my daughter goes to a private school in the city. So we're in a pretty small circle we hang out in. Lots of "no go" or "we don't belong there" areas.
Really? My city is currently the murder capital of the country, but I still agree with what Brian said:

Really none in particular, at least not during daytime hours or early evening. There are some areas of town that I jsut have no reason to go to at all, and those do tend to be the purportedly "less savory" parts of town, but If I had need to go, I would. Sometimes you can find a good restaurant in the sketchy areas! It's all relative too - some might call the area in which I live sketchy. The fact is most people are decent enough anywhere you go, and I'm not going to fear going anywhere just because of the perception that is is unsafe.
I'm not going out of my way to just hang out in the sketchier areas, but you're right, some of the very best restaurants (or bars) are in those neighborhoods. My current neighborhood is "officially" sketchy, but we have the best neighbors in the world (and a fantastic corner store with an excellent deli counter across the street). And my previous neighborhood was supposedly one of the "better" areas, but someone got shot outside the bar next door--the same bar I frequented regularly. Crime happens in every city in the world, and I'm not going to live in fear.

None. We live 12 miles from town. Population is about 3,000 I think. I love our small town❤️

My nearest town is very, very rural so there isn't much to avoid really.

my little town is about the same distance from us/about the same size. i avoid like the plague for 10 months per year the streets in/around the university it houses. i swear college students have a death wish-pull out from street parking w/o a thought to checking their rear view mirror for traffic, walk eyes glued to a cellphone/scootering/skateboarding out from sidewalks and parking lots into traffic coming in both directions (including VERY LARGE busses and farm equipment), no one uses the actual crosswalks. it's safer to drive around an elementary school at start or release time b/c those kids have better sense or at least are guided by crossing guards. we have a notification system app on our phones for local emergency responses-the number of traffic and pedestrian accidents during the college's academic year is horrific.

If I was single or my daughter wasn't so young we'd have a larger area we'd be willing to go. We had a frightening incident in a busy shopping center parking lot not long ago. We changed our habits a good bit after that.

Life can be different when your a single mom of a young daughter.

I can understand that, and I'm sorry about your scary incident. Please be careful though, not to raise your daughter with a sense of fear. Street smarts will be her best tool in the future.

Hey you can use capitals lol.

Hey you can use capitals lol.

actually, without tremendous difficulty- no i can't. i've shared many times over my years on the dis boards that one of the skills i've never regained from the 3 strokes i suffered in my early 40's is mastery of a keyboard. i've managed to get back much of my muscle memory of where the individual keys are located such that i can type fairly quickly and accurately but coordinating and incorporating the use of certain functions including the caps eludes me.

Most ...although I go where I need to but with protection.
