I am guessing the Pop Century is what most people are recomending since it is new, but what would be the next one in line that you would recomend if Pop Century is full? and why?

If you have kids of any age I would recommend ASMovies. It has such a great Disney feel to it. My kids couldn't believe it when we showed up at ASMO and they saw Buzz and Woody and the Dalmations. They loved it. The Sorcerer Mickey pool is fun. That was our 1st choice for lodging for our trip this December.
Pop Century seems like it would be especially fun for teenage girls.
I think- but am not certain- that ASMO fills up before Pop so this may be of no help.

I have stayed at the three other allstars. It really is what theme you prefer. We did not really like the music because of the theme. Each one is exactly the same except for the theme. If I had to stay again I would probably pick the sports since it is the first one you come to when you go through the gate.

I agree, just go with the theme you (or the kids) would like the best. We stayed at AS Movies in November which I chose because my kids are huge Toy Story fans. They loved the resort and had a great time. But, we went over to walk around the Sports and they flipped out (I have 3 boys), they thought it was the coolest thing they had ever seen. Who knew?

We loved the All Stars, I think you will have a great time at whichever you choose.

We stayed at All Star Movies and our three kids loved it (I have to admit it we did too!) !! You definitely felt the Disney magic in and around the resort with the themed buildings. We stayed in the Mighty Ducks section, and enjoyed walking all around to the other buildings (Toy Story, Fantasia, Love Bug, Dalmations); we thought it was very cool.

Hmmm... interesting question.

I'd have to say Music-- here's why:

I love the Movies resort, very cool theme, very cool common areas. The reason I prefer Music is that it is a little more spread out and therefore, I think, a little quieter if you get a room anywhere from Jazz on back. For a solo adult traveler, this quiet is a luxury at a value resort. For some odd reason, I have also found Music to be much less crowded then Movies or Sports. Movies tends to draw more people in general, and Sports tends to draw VERY large high school groups there for music/sporting events.

I can't wait to spend a night or two at Pop Century, though.

Hope this helps!

Apart from theming, the two other main factors are occupancy and who is staying there.

Occupancy (from highest to lowest):Movies, Sports, Music

Who stays there:

Movies: Mixture
Music: Most school music groups stay here.
Sports: Sports teams and cheerleaders usually stay here.

The sports teams and music groups can be very large and very annoying. I've only stayed at the Music, so I can't really comment on any experiences at the others. At the Music there was a large group of ~13 year olds there while we were there. We were able to avoid them for the most part, but one day we had to deal with them while waiting for a bus (and riding the bus). Also, at night they invaded the pool and a pool full of 13 year olds is not a very enjoyable thing. Overall it wasn't too bad (we are going back there this year), but it is definitely something to consider.

Here's another vote for ASMovies. It is the newest of the All Stars. We stayed there for 1 night last year and enjoyed it. It is great for younger kids. :)

Thanks for all the great advice. We are really wanting to go, but money is a big factor, so the value resort will probably have to be the one. We stayed at a moderate last time, 5 years ago, so hopefully this would not be a big dissapointment. I just am worried about the double bed, we are used to King.

I have stayed at 1 moderate (Coronado) and 1 Value (Movies) IMO you are mainly paying for prettier decorations at the moderate. The rooms don't seem that much larger. I thought CSR was really lovely but for this trip we are doing ASMO- Actually the kids wouldn't want it any other way.

Myself, husband and two youg girl stay at Movies last May. They did not want to leave the hotel. That should say something for Movies. Rooms are a bit tight but how offten are you in there. princess:

We like Music because there are no stairs to the pool and we use a wheelchair. Other than that, all 3 resorts are very similar. Movies is busy because young ones like the theming, so it is difficult to get into. All 3 are great, however. The layout of the room is almost exactly the same as moderates. The only difference I could see, is that the rooms are a little smaller, and the tv is in a console one can close in the moderates, where as at AS the tv is out in the open.

We are going in June 2004 with our 2yr old and 7 yr old. We made reservation at the Movie Resort for $99.00 a night. Then we recieved a cupon saying we could get a room for $59.00 a night. My DH called and ended up getting a room at the Music Resort for $81.00 a night. Im not sure how to get a room for 59.00 that they advertised? Maybe those rooms we already gone? We dont plan on spending to much time in our room. The pictures we saw on line looked nice, I think we will be happy.:hyper:

We stayed at ASMovies in 2000 - highly recommend. Resort was great, and great theme. I haven't stayed at Pop yet, but that looks nice too.

We stayed at Sports in October last year and loved it. If there were any sports teams or cheerleaders there, we didn't see them. My sons loved the theming. Yes, the rooms are small, but doable, if that's all your budget will allow. Noise never bothered us. In fact I never remember hearing any outside noise when we were in our room.

We're planning a trip next (05) October and want to stay at CSR, but we almost decided to go back to Sports. The main reason we're not is because ds1(10) wants the CSR pool.

The ASmovies did look pretty cool, but ds1 was too old to want that and ds2 was too little to care (11mo). ASmusic didn't look very enticing, but we didn't see too too much of it.
