Hi!
We are about to book our flights for next years cruise and WDW and currently (looking at affordable prices) we have the choice between Delta Airlines and US Airways. We never did US Airways before, sure know what to expect from Delta.
US Airways is a bunch cheaper but we are seeing bad reviews nearly everywhere ?!

So folks here is the question: Which Airline would you choose and why ?

Thanks for your feedback!

You don't give a lot of detail. Are these two direct flights you are comparing? Do you need to change planes somewhere? Are flight times similar? How much is the difference in price?

The only thing I can offer is that I hate flying US Air through Philadelphia so if that is relevant to your question I would pick Delta. I would pay more not to have to go through the Philadelphia airport. Otherwise, assuming all else is equal, I would go with what is less expensive.

Both flights are connecting flights. Delta connects in Atlanta and US Air in Philadelphia. Flight time are within a two hour window so I would say comparable. Price difference is about US$ 400 for a family of 4...

Hi Thorb,

Instead of choosing from your poll, I would like to recommend you look at the two airline's boards at FlyerTalk:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles-points-1/

You can learn about each, what airline you might be able to purchase from more efficiently, and even post this question to the airline's fans.

I say "more efficiently", as it is sometimes more cost effective to purchase a ticket from a code-share airline instead of from the airline directly. For instance to get from Portland, Oregon in the US to Los Angeles, I can find tickets on Alaska Airline cheaper through Delta or American's website.

In addition, I HIGHLY recommend you do a search using the ITA Matrix:

http://matrix.itasoftware.com/

This isn't a travel site; rather, it taps into all of the airline's booking software (Sabre, Shares, Apollo, etc) to find the best price and routing. Once you find a good deal, the end is a listing of the flight's codes that can then be provided to the airline to book that specific routing.

Good luck!

Beware of US Air if they contract any leg of the flight to Lufthansa. My daughter recently had a flight with US Air from Europe to the United States with the first leg of the flight being on Lufthansa. When she tried to check in on the flight Lufthansa said she did not have a ticket for that leg of the flight even though she had purchased the ticket through US Air. She ended up having to pay $3600 for a new ticket to get back to the US. I would never book anything through US Air again. Stick to Delta, you may have to pay more initially, but they are more reliable.

Stay away from Philadelphia. I've had nothing but trouble with USAirways in Philadelphia. I've flown both domestic, Delta is way better.
