We have the Dining Plan for our upcoming trip in October. In making/changing ADR's I may go over my allotted TS credits. I know I will if I snag an adr to CRT.

If I do go over and have to pay for a restaurant or two out of pocket, which are the cheapest to pay out of pocket for? I want to use my DP credits for the most pricy restaurants.

The ADRs I have or hope to have booked are:

CRT
BoG
1900 PF
La Hacienda
H&V
Akershus
Corel Reef
Beaches & Cream
Mama Melrose (F! package)
Rose & Crown
Chef Mickey's

I do have the Disney Visa so I'm pretty sure that gives me a 20% discount as long as I have the card with me for these TS meals.

Thanks for your help!!!

It will depend on what you intend to order in some cases, but I'd think Beaches and Cream would potentially be the most reasonable choice.

It also depends on which meal you are eating.

Each adult TS credit is roughly "worth" $37.50. Check out the prices and see what works for you. If you have children, ALL buffet meals need to use a child's credit. Their a la carte places are much less than any buffet. BUT, adults may want to pay OOP at a buffet and use credit at a la carte. You don't all have to use credits at the same place. Also, you could have one adult use a credit at the a la carte and the other pay OOP. That way you still have a dessert to share.

Yes, I think Beaches & Cream would be. We are only planning to have the Kitchen Sink there so that would be a waste of credits.

Perhaps one of the buffets would be another to pay out of pockets since the cost is more controllable???

I agree that it's generally going to depend on what you plan to order at the a la carte locations (BOG, La Hacienda, Coral Reef, B&C, and R&C). My instinctive guess is that either R&C or B&C will probably be the least expensive meal, but it does depend on what is ordered.

It's also worth noting that you can mix and match payment methods. So if one person wants an expensive entree and the other wants the cheapest item on the menu, you can use a DDP credit for the expensive meal and pay OOP for the less expensive one.

Beaches and Cream and the Rose & Crown should be the cheaper of your options.

But I also suggest this, on days you have to pay our of pocket getting just water instead of soda and omitting a dessert or even sharing.

I also know that at many places there is ALOT of food so you could get away with sharing even using a TS credit which you could pool. Hope this helps.

Disney Visa discount is 10% off at participating restaurants. Unless maybe it's different if you have the Platinum card.

Not all of those restaurants participate.

we also look at the numbers and sometimes it is better to pay out of pocket than use 2TS - it just depends on what you are going to order.

Rose and Crown is inexpensive (comparatively).

Check this out! http://www.distripplanner.com/ Plug in your meals and it will break down which meals you should pay OOP for. Pretty great.

Thank you so much for this link!!! Beaches and Cream, Rose & Crown lunch, 1900 PF breakfast and Mama Melrose lunch would be the cheapest to pay oop. This is great to know!!!

Another side of looking at it is that the buffet meal prices tend to vary depending on whether you book week days, Fridays or weekends, or holiday/peak times. If you book a 'cheap' day you can pay less than $20 for an adult, in which case it's cheaper to pay OOP as the price won't change by adding or removing extras during the meal. This year we did CP and Boma breakfasts, and both were under $16!

If you are on the regular DDP, then a 2 credit meal like CRT is rarely worth it to use credits.

The Fantasmic Dining Package at Mama Melrose is a set price of $37.99 + tax for adults regardless of what you order. If you share or only order a few things at one of your other TS restaurants where you order from a menu (Coral Reef, La Hacienda, BOG) it might be less expensive than MM.

Lots of people have leftover credits at the end of their vacation so sometimes it is best to use up your credits and then at the end if you need to pay OOP then do it. You never know when you may want or need to cancel a meal.

If that's all you're having, I don't think it's included in any dining plan - so this would have to be out of pocket.
