I am hearing some dreadful reviews of some places I would have thought solid?

What based on experience/recent reviews are GOOD bets to get good food for 1TS on DDP?

Thanks

Our favorite restaurant we end up at all the time is Kona Cafe. We have never had bad food there and they have excellent desserts.

I have never had a bad meal at Kona.
It is one of the few places I will pay for OOP.

I also really like the whole fish at Kouzzinna. It is well worth the price OOP.
I was not as thrilled with the starters or dessert, but they may have improved over the last year (or not).

Sanaa. By a long shot. (Not including desserts)

However, it will not be to everyone's taste.

I keep hearing wonderful things about Sanaa, and I plan to try it myself on my next trip. Actually, I barely remember reading a negative review since it opened.

To answer the original question, I recommend Kouzzina and Kona Cafe for worthwhile one-credit restaurants.

:)

I'm not excited about Kona, but as Tony mentioned, the whole fish at Kouzzina is great. They have some new things now, that I'm interested in trying.

Here's my take on Sanaa as someone who doesn't care for Indian food, per se.

I am not a fan of "traditional" Indian curry spices, but I knew there were items at Sanaa that were different. If you like fish but not curries, the sustainable fish entree for dinner was an artic char that was one of the best seafood dishes I've had, anywhere. The fish had a couple big shrimp and scallops with it, on top of a bed of veggies, no starches. I was happy with that.

I have always loved my meals at Kona Cafe. That's my usual "go to" suggestion.

And this thread shows up just after I cancelled my Kona ADR in favor of Le Cellier...

Ditto on Kouzzina's. It was my favorite meal last year and I booked it for my first night this year.

After several years of waiting for ADR we were finally able to experience Le Cellier. I now understand why so many say that this is the most over-hyped restaurant in WDW. Don't get me wrong as the steaks were petty good, but they weren't the end-all be-all, greatest steaks in the world. Service and atmosphere were very good.

I second a nomination for Kona Cafe. Appetizers, entree and desserts were fantasic.

I'll also throw out there a suggestion to try the Turf Club at Saratoga Springs.

We think Sanaa is a lot better than Kouzzina. Sanaa would be our top 1TS pick.

In my opinion? Coral Reef, followed by Kouzzina, Sanaa, the Kona Café and the Grand Floridian Café, not necessarily in that order.

Another vote for Kouzzina. That whole fish dinner was so good, that I am so disappointed we didn't try to eat there twice last trip!

I agree Le Celliar is over-hyped. But it has been consitently good every time for us. While the steaks are very good, they are not the best I have had. However, they are the best I have had at any 1TS WDW restaurant.

Honestly, I have not eaten anywhere in WDW where I felt the food, service and overall quality was better or even on par with something off-site or in my home town. I enjoy dining at WDW on our visits, always have a good meal and will go again but its a tourist center and I don't feel you can ever get the same level at such a place as you can elsewhere.

I would say that we have consistently had good food at Boma and Coral Reef.

I think the atmosphere of the AKL plus the variety of food at Boma is our official vote! :thumbsup2

Le Cellier isn't a bad choice either, but I agree that it wasn't the most amazing thing ever compared to the difficulty of getting the reservation.

I agree with most of the above but don't forget The Wave! I had a great meal there on my last trip.
