Me – Disney fanatic - I stomped through Disneyland Paris in 1994, since why come to a theme park when you’re in Paris, yes really!
Diane (DP) – Long suffering Disney widow, buts loves it all anyway
Morgan (DD9) – 9 year old Disney fan. Favourites BTM, Pirates of the Caribbean
Jack (DS) – 7 year old Disney, Star Wars fan. Favourite Autopia
Robyn (DD5) – 5 year old Disney fan. Loves parades and Casey Jr
Tom - TomTom sat nav that will get a full workout this trip

Diane sets off to work and will get back at dinnertime.
Fortunately I've accrued some extra hours from late meetings so change my half day into a full days leave :woohoo:
I finish off packing the car. Looking out a host of DVDs for the trip.
Re-check our route on Tom and add another couple of playlists on the iPod :surfweb:
Hopefully we have got plenty to entertain the troops in the car as we have a good road trip ahead of us.
The car now looks like mission control, and although not all necessary it will ease the journey.

We thought about flights for this trip but as DCR is our destination we need the car and decide that our own is the preference. :drive:

The ferry from Rosyth is a favourite but £1,500 for 2 cabins for a family of 5 makes the decision very easy that we need to head south.
Now DP is not fond of the ferry so the rest of us quickly persuade her that the Eurotunnel would be a novel option. It is to be our first first of the trip :thumbsup2
At £146 return it is a good deal. With £37.50 of Tesco vouchers = £140 the deal is even sweeter that the crossing costs us the pricey sum of £6 :)

After a quick lunch of sandwiches and quickly washing the dishes, we head off on leg one of the route.
Not heading very far - 3 1/2hrs. Just off to SIL at Uddingston. This will be a good jumping off point tomorrow, as it is just off the M73/M74 so very central for journeys south.

Grey skies do not offer summer promise, but hey we are on holiday :cloud9:
Spying Stirling Castle 3 hours later the sun catches it with a warming glow. It is appropriate that we are listening to Braveheart on the iPod... you'll never take our...............

As we join the M73 we think croissants will be appropriate for tomorrow’s breakfast.
A couple of button presses on Tom and we are heading for Tesco at Parkhead.
Chocolate for the kids and butter for Diane and myself.
We know they will not be the real thing, but it gets us in the mood.

A quick supper stop at Showcase at McDonalds. Wasn’t my first choice but we don’t normally eat here as DS will not eat much of the choices. My last Showcase cinema tickets gave us discount on Big Macs so we go for that. DD has a Happy Meal while the others have McChicken sandwich and DS has Chicken select. He announces he now likes McD, as long as he gets an adult’s choice
All in it is £14.02

Great start. I think you are very brave driving all that way with 3 kids :rotfl: Look forward to reading more :goodvibes

Great start :thumbsup2

Interested to hear how the rest of the journey goes.....

we are pondering another trip and thought road may be a cheaper option and tesco vouchers will be on the way soon :cheer2: so Eurotunnel sounds good choice :thumbsup2

|Great start, think I spied part two up for reading as well!

Interested to see how the travelling fared Reid !

I can't imagine DD being happy to travel so far and she has no-one to niggle

Sounds like you are off to a good start. Tom is such an essential component of any road trip, wouldn't go anywhere in the U.S. without my Nuvi, will see if it proves I should be bringing her across the ocean with me.
