Hi Everyone,

This is my first post, but I've been lurking for a while. My husband and I have planned a trip to Disney World on April 4-12, staying at the Pop Century resort. This will be our third trip there together, but the first with our daughter who just turned 2 last weekend.

The reason for this post is to express my relief that the trip that we just booked last Monday is still on. My daughter was diagnosed with a dislocated left hip last summer and went through 2 weeks of traction and 3.5 months in a body cast from her chest to her ankles. The cast came off at Christmas and we thought we were in the clear and decided to book our trip.

Well, we had our checkup this morning with the doctor and found out that her hip is slipping out again, so she'll need a more invasive surgery and another 6-8 weeks in a body cast. Since we just got out of a body cast, that didn't really phase me all that much. Been there, done that. Of course, the first thing I think of is our trip to Disney. I mention it to the doctor who says that it will probably be around 3 months until he can get to it. That brings us to mid/late April. He said even if he had an opening earlier, though, it's something that can wait an extra week or two to get one last bit of fun before another surgery. Thank goodness! We were looking so forward to sharing the Disney experience with our daughter (who can't wait to see Pooh and Ariel).

Anyway, I guess I didn't need to post, but I'm just so relieved and wanted to share my excitement with others who are just as Disney-crazy as we are. And after lurking on a few of the boards, this was definitely the best board to do that on!

Welcome to the Canadian board. :goodvibes I'm so glad that you get the chance to get to Disney before the next round of surgery etc with your daughter. I hope you have a wonderful time!

Ah Hon ---my heart goes out to you...I am happy that you have such an understanding Doc--yes take her to Disney and enjoy yourselves--family time is so precious. Just a suggestion-----a nice breakfast or lunch at Crystal Palace ,,would be a great opportunity for you to meet "Pooh" and friends.
Best wishes for a very "Magical" trip for you and your family.

Certainly sounds like your family needs this magic to come into your lives! Have a blast and cherish the look on your little ones face when she sees Pooh, Ariel and the Castle for the first time. Precious moments not to be missed. I'll be at the Pop Century this March and it is still magical to me.

Pixie Dust to you and your family

I'm glad that you're family will get to enjoy the magic of Disney before your daughters next surgery. I wish your daughter a speedy recovery.

You probably have already asked your doctor about this but just in case you haven't, you may want to ask what type of rides you should avoid while at Disney.

Wish you a magical stress free trip!
