We used to love Cracker Barrel at HHI. Before it closed, it was a tradition for us to walk over there one morning for breakfast. Then we went to Signe's for breakfast for a few years. Now we want to try someplace different. How's the Sunrise Cafe (isn't that the name of the place by Captain Woody's?) We've also tried Hilton Head Diner, but I was put off by a very annoying timeshare guy right outside. Anywhere else anyone recommends?

For some reason we love the IHOP. The IHOP's at home leave a lot to be desired - but my DS dreams of the IHOP on HHI. LOL

Signe's Bakery on Arrow Rd & Skillet's down at Coligny Circle. :thumbsup2

Sunrise Cafe is good, and a lot of people know it! :goodvibes I like the Hilton Head Diner, but I understand why you were annoyed with the guy in the booth. There's a little place in Sea Pines down across from Harbour Town called the Harbour Town Bakery that has good breakfasts. There's some outdoor seating. You place your order at the counter; they then serve you. I really like their corned beef hash. There's also a pancake house on the right hand side of the road just before the bridge over to the Island.

We have NOT had good experiences at Skillets at Coligny.

Harbour Town Bakery has my favorite word in it-BAKERY. Sounds like a good place to try next trip. And I like the way they do the ordering-like Signe's.

Sunrise Cafe
Plantation Cafe & Deli
Gruby's (Salami & Eggs)
Walnuts - very good but off island (Bluffton)
Flamingo House of Donuts

All the resorts offer a large buffet breakfast (Westin, Hilton etc.)

Have you ever tried Harolds Diner? Not much to look at but great breakfast. We too had the tradition for years to get up the first morning and do a bike ride to Cracker Barrel. The last time we did it we ended up in an empty parking lot and a closed sign. We ride to Harolds now.

Is this on the opposite side of the street and a bit north of the Cracker Barrel parcel?

I head over to HT Bakery way too often for those pasteries! They also have some wonderful coffee there and you can get refills (it's a help yourself coffee bar).

Kenny B's has a Sunday brunch that's yummy and includes beignets. They also have a regular breakfast menu during the week.

I'd forgotten about Kenny B's-thanks. We went there on a Sunday for lunch once, not knowing about the brunch. When we got there, they told us, but it was close enough to the end of the brunch time that they made us lunch. The funny part was that we drove by Kenny B's several times looking for it-gotta love that Hilton Head Island signage.

Yeah, it can be kind of hit and miss trying to find it. Usually you need to turn where you "think" it might be, because if you keep going to make sure, it's too late!

My mom and I have been working on a hand-drawn map that has the IMPORTANT HH and Bluffton stuff on it. You know, as you drive down 278, what order things appear at the places you want to go (ie. Barnes and Noble comes before Wal-Mart). Anyway, if I ever finish that map I'll publish it and give it out for free to DISers and probably make a mint selling it to lost and frustrated tourists!

I think it's funny that one of the things that many of us like best about HHI (the zoning and lack of signage) is also the thing that can frustrate us the most about it, especially at night. ;)

After many trips to HHI over the years DH & I finally got around to Flamingo Donuts & omg we could not get enough of their muffins !!! Our 3 kids :dance3: commented how now they'll never hear the end of how much DH & I  them :rotfl: They really were that good :thumbsup2

Another idea if you like a pastry type of breakfast is the French Bakery at Pineland Station......yummy

Also Stacks has a good BF, but it can get packed so go early!

We used to go to Cracker Barrel also. If you asked our kids (now adult kids) they would suggest the Orginal Pancake HOuse. Like going back in time and you will enjoy the food.
