I'm planning a second trip to take full advantage of my AP and don't want to spend the money for a deluxe. I've never stayed at a moderate in WDW before and I can't seem to make up my mind.

If you have stayed at any of these places, can you let me know what you thought about it? Does one of these resorts stand out as first choice for anyone? It is just me and my DH, no kids.

I welcome any input from you guys!

We went about 3 weeks ago and stayed at CBR just for one night (also have new AP's!) and found it too spread out for our taste. It was our first stay at a moderate as well, and although we thought it was very nice, nothing was very convienient. Lots of bus stops, food and pool area was pretty far away from where we were, etc. We are headed back in Dec. for our first stay at WL, but will be back in May for my sister's wedding and will probably stay at POFQ.

DH and I LOVED Port Orleans Riverside. We stayed in the mansion section and thougt it was so romantic. The gazebo and the black iron path covers were so pretty outside of our room and the flowers were beautiful and smelled really nice The river winding through the resort made it feel romantic as well.

That was our first trip. Since then we have also stayed at the AKL, which a lot of people think is romantic, and I'm sure for some it is, but the romance factor was nothing compared to POR for us.

Next we will stay at the BWI and WL, but I still think longingly about POR. We'll get back there soon enough I'm sure, since we are buying APs this time.

You didn't mention CBR but that is a great moderate. Many many people have have wonderful vacations there. The rooms are the largest of any of the moderates.

For a couple's trip, out of the resorts you listed, I would choose POFQ, because it's the closest to DTD by boat. The grounds are romantic, although without the wild charm of POR AB, but well enough. If you enjoy evenings at PI, I would definitely go with this one. Although, if you had listed the CBR, I would probably lean that way because it has the most romantic main pool, and lovely places for moonlit walks.

I have stayed there when it was Dixie Landings years ago.

Last year we stayed there at the beginning of Dec. and have made it a point to stay there every year. I booked it again this year. (12/3-12/5)

They also have a boat to DTD, and the river is so charming. They have horse drwn carriage rides trough the grounds, they have a fishing whole, and you can rent those surrey bikes as well. I have not stayed in the masions, but the Alligator byou side is nice. Lots of tress.

We love it. Now I will say I am bias being that I have not stayed at the POFQ or CSR. My mom stayed at the CBR and we visited her there. I did not prefer that over POR.

Good luck!

We have stayed at POR and POFQ. I liked them both, but IMHO POR has a deluxe feel. It's very peaceful and the grounds are just beautiful.:D

CSR!!! It's like a deluxe-light. It's the only moderate that has a salon and fitness center. The Pepper Market is also nicer than your traditional food court. It has a vast selection and you have servers that take your drink order and set and bus your table. (There is a 10% gratuity for this however) The grounds are beautiful and the pool is fantasic. The hot tub is also nice and large. The transportation is great. CSR has it's own bus service and there are 4 stops within the resort. Some people complain that it is a convention resort and therefore lose some of the "magic." I find the opposite to be true. I'd rather share my resort with a bunch of conventioners who don't use the buses and pools and instead sit in meetings all day.

I'd stay at CSR. Probably because I'm going to be living in New Orleans soon. One of the Port Orleans just seems rather redundant when I can see the real thing whenever I want lol.

POFQ is my choice. I stayed one night at POR and it's really beautiful and quite romantic, but too big and spread out for my taste. POFQ was small, quaint and romantic as well.

I can't speak about CSR because I haven't stayed there (although I'd like to try it).

AHHHHHHHH! It's still almost tied!!! Can you guys give me some more feedback on your experiences?? Please help! I can't decide!!!!

I voted for CSR. NC Beast and I had a great time there this year. We had caught rides on those carts after eating dinner at the Pepper Market. We were in the Ranchos section--good parking and felt like we were away from the everyday hassles. :sunny:

My vote would be for Port Orleans Riverside.

We stayed there in September in the Magnolia Terrace mansions and I really enjoyed it.
It also has a lot of activities. You can rent boats, rent bikes, go fishing (if you or hubby are into that sort of thing) and even take a horse drawn carriage ride. There is even direct access to DTD by boat

I loved CSR - I stayed there 4 nights on a vacation that started out with Poly Concierge. I thought it'd be hard to go from conc. deluxe to a moderate - But CSR proved me wrong. It was a fantastic stay. CSR really is a deluxe light. Sort of like WL, which I also consider deluxe light.
We had excellent service, enjoyed the pool & hot tub very much, enjoyed Pepper Market. The Transportation was great. I will definately stay there again. I have recommended it to several people, including my Brother who stayed there with his new wife on their honeymoon. They absolutely loved it.

CSR will definately get repeat business from us.
