Where would you stay with a group like mine?

My DH, myself, and DD (2 1/2 at the time) stayed at POFQ in Feb 2006 and had a great time.

We are going back Feb 2008 with myself, DH, DD (will be 4 1/2), DS (will be 18 months) and MIL. I get along very well with my MIL (better than I get along with my own mother).

So, at first we were considering one regular room at the Polynesian. I've always wanted to stay there, and with two young kids, the monorail seems FABULOUS.

Then, we considered three adults and one bathroom a scary prospect, so considered TWO rooms at the POFQ. Obviously, not a deluxe room and not on the monorail, but it was fine during our last stay and we could have the convenience of two rooms for naps, bathrooms, etc.

Now, someone has suggested one of the Villas to us. Obviously, this is the most expensive option, but not by a ton, and there are kitchens, so we might save money on food. And have more space. But, be farther away from the parks.

So, what would you do? I soooooo want to stay at the Polynesian, but don't know if I'm just being stubborn and will seriously regret it once we're there.

TIA!

I am a huge fan of the villas. We usually travel to Disney with me, DH, dd13,dd10,dd7,dd2 and my sister. A two bedroom villa is awesome. I love to have the kitchen, washer and dryer and two bathrooms. My kids love the balcony and all the space. We do not have a huge bath tub at home, so they think the big tub is a small pool. :rotfl: My vote is for the villa!!

well if you want the Polyn then you might consider VWL.

you can rent a reservation thru a DVC member (just don't stay fri or sat nights too expensive).

hopefully one day CR can be added to that list!!!!

Who long is your stay? We've stayed at the Poly with 4 adults, but just for 2 nights and it really did not work out too badly...that said I would not want to do that for a full week.
I loved staying at the Poly, and went back for a second stay with just my husband and myself and he (who does not really like WDW) would stay at the Poly again in a heart beat. He loved the fact that you could use the monorail and he really enjoyed using the MK as our "transportation hub" to get to other resorts. I realize with younger children your needs would be different but just throwing that in.
If you want to stay in a MK resort without the monorail I would look into the villas at the WL. We have stayed at the WL and I do love that resort as well the transportation to the MK was great, and the themeing is great.
How about staying at 2 resorts if you stay is longer, a few nights with 2 rooms at the POFQ and then a couple of nights at the Poly with just the one room.

I would stay at the Poly. How about staying concierge there? Then you would have a bathroom right down the hall if needed and you could relax/watch TV in the lounge while 1 adult stays with a napping child.

I've stayed at Poly 3 times with 3 adults and my 3 children while my youngest was under 3 and we never felt over crowded. We did always stayed concierge though so 1 adult would get up early and shower and then take the kids to the lounge for breakfast while the other adults get ready.

Even if you didn't stay concierge I don't think you'd feel over crowded in a Poly room they really are lovely and HUGE. I think you would really love the convenience of the monorail with 2 small children.

You guys aren't making this easier!! :) You all have good arguments for the various options.

lovesdumbo THANK YOU! This is what I was hoping to hear. If it was anyone other than my MIL, I wouldn't even consider it, but I think we could pull this off. Worse case scenario, I could always hit the pool if everyone is driving me crazy! :thumbsup2

We are staying for a week, and I don't really want to switch rooms with two young kids!

I am still leaning towards Poly (today, probably a different answer tomorrow). Wouldn't it be great if I got one of those fabulous 40% off discounts, so we could get TWO rooms at the Poly? I can dream I guess...

I would still love to hear any other opinions on this, you know so I can keep changing my mind over and over again.

Last year my DH, myself, my mother and my children at the time were DS6, DS3 and DS 13 months. We stayed at the Contemporary. Same situation as you, one bathroom and three adults and kids. It really wasn't that bad. My mom took her shower at night before she went to bed which kept the bathroom free in the mornings. I would just get up extra early to get my shower and dry my hair. My husband is in and out of the shower very quickly so that wasn't a problem either. The boys got a bath at night before bed so they did not need bathed in the mornings. We did not spend much time in the room. Pretty much just sleeping and showering. I was a bit worried about the 1 bathroom problem as well but it all worked out fine. We actually did it two years in a row with no problems. Good luck with your decision! I hope you have a great trip.

Thanks for the response. I think we are going to do it, the Poly, I mean. Because (she said jumping up and down like a two-year-old) I wanna stay there!!! :)

We just got our Planning DVD and I watched the stuff on the Poly and I reallllllly want to stay there. Now I'm just hoping for a code...
