You were going to be spending a good bit of downtime at the hotel with young kids? We are hoping to go for 5 nights/6 days, but will probably only do parks 3 1/2 days. The rest of the time we want to swim, lounge, eat, shop and and just hang out so as not to overstimulate the kids. On park days we will DEFINITELY be coming back to the hotel for lunch and rest/naps.

I am thinking if we get park tix for fewer days, we can spend more on the hotel? We will have our own car so we won't need to wait/rely on Disney transportation.

Thanks!
Angela

The new packaging actually makes it cheaper to go to the park longer. For us we would only save a few dollars to go one less day.

I have never actually stayed at the Poly but toured there a few times. I would try and stay there if you can. Its a beautiful resort and on the monorail.

I stayed at the GF and its very beautiful and again on the monorail but it didn't seem as "kid friendly" to me as other places. Too white for kids!

CSR is my favorite resort. It has a great pool and awesome views.

The BW resorts would be nice too.

Wow, I'm absolutely no help!

I would definately suggest a resort in the Boardwalk area (Boardwalk Inn, Yacht & Beachclub or Swan/Dolphin). Yacht/Beachclub have a great pool, as does the Swan/Dolphin. There are plenty of things to do at the Boardwalk to entertain both the kids and adults.
The main advantage is their proximaty to Epcot and Disney/MGM Studio's. When the kids poop out, it's only a short walk or boat ride back to the resort.

We (me, DH, DS(8) and DD(5)) stayed at the Caribbean last year and found the kids loved playing on the little beaches spread out through the resort, the playground was great and there is a great little kiddie pool right next to the food court, near the main pool. There are a total of seven pools throughout the resort.

Hope this helps you make up your mind.

A 2-bedroom at OKW or SSR - away from the parks...

but jeepgirl30 is right - the new tickets are definitely for longer stays.

can you afford to get the 10 day ticket and add the no expiration date and park hoppers?

My kids 2 and 4 LOVED AKL. So did mommy! :D Between the animals and the zero entry pool, not to mention Boma, we really enjoyed our down time.

I would stay at the Poly, YC/BC, or AKL. They all have nice pools. With YC/BC you are right on the boardwalk. With AKL you have the animals and the resort has lots of fun stuff to do scavenger hunts, storytelling, kids baking (I believe). With Poly you are on the monorail and have great views of the MK.

I would pick the Poly. It's definitely a lot of fun for kids, and not formal or anything like GF. The pool is also very nice and you could spend a lot of time there. I would also suggest it because of its great location in close proximity to the MK. Since you have young kids, you will most likely spend lots of your time there, and it's close, so when everyone's tired out, it's just a quick monorail ride back to the hotel. This is pretty much the same with Epcot. I would normally recommend the AKL, but since it's so far out from most parks, it can be tough with tired kids on those long bus rides. The Epcot resorts are also nice, particularly the Yacht & Beach Clubs, with the great pool area, Stormalong Bay.
