Where would you stay for 1 night before 10 nights in tent at FW?

Onsite. Last night of Pop Warner.

I asked this over on the resorts board but I think I'd rather have the opinions of some Fort Fiends.

Pop Warner will be having their last night, so lots of amped kids. We want to avoid them.

DH is concerned that if the kids like the resort too much they won't want to tent camp after that. I worry about that too, but I am not as concerned as he is.

In our price range:

Animal Kingdom
Boardwalk Inn (most expensive though)

Coronado Springs
Port Orleans (both, but I've heard Pop warner kids stay there)

We would stay in one of the values in a heartbeat, but they are either full or will have the bulk of the pop kids. My husband and cheerleaders don't mix. Trust me. I've seen it. I was a cheerleader.

Which of the above resorts would you choose before 10 glorious nights under the stars at the Fort?

Thanks Fort Fiends!

Meg

This isn't on your list, but how about the Wilderness Lodge? It's right next to the campground, and it's cheaper than Animal Kingdom Lodge! :goodvibes

Another vote for WL. Then if the kids get really attached to the resort, you can always walk over for a visit during your stay at the Fort. :thumbsup2 It's a beautiful resort and the transition to camping isn't as severe as from, say, the Boardwalk.

If not the Lodge, then AKL or Coronado. :thumbsup2

WL was my first instinct, but it is completely booked. I'm going to try every day until we get there, but just in case, I need to reserve something else. Plus, my kids have stayed at WL before, so it wouldn't be totally novel.

I guess this means the 6 am Shuffle for me for the next 2 months!

Or, you could make it even easier, and see if you can get a cabin at FW!

Are you driving in or flying in?? If you are driving in, why not offsite?? That way there's no chance of "want to stay at the resort".

I just read your post over on the Resorts board, and it looks like you've decided on Coronado Springs. That's good - it will be fine, especially since you're arriving so late and will check out in the morning. :goodvibes

LOL, I decided and the undecided. I'm still mulling it over. :) Any suggestions are totally appreciated!

We're flying in, so we really want to stay onsite.

Thanks for any thoughts/suggestions!

How about the Contemporary?

Its in the same neighborhood, and I think there are boats that go between the contemporary and Ft. Wilderness, the rooms are HUGE, you have monorail access, and its cheaper than the poly.

There is no way I'd spend a lot of money on a room especially if you get in late in the day. All you're going to need is a place to sleep and put your luggage. I would just try to get a room at Pop or the All Stars. I think staying at the big hotels is a waste because you're not in the room very much. I remember staying at the Contemporary and all we did was sleep and shower there.

Yeah, this is what we're thinking. While it would be fun to stay at Poly, I can't justify the money. We could use that kind of $$ to get a golf cart to make our camping stay easier.

The bummer is that Pop is full. Pop would actually be perfect. It would entertain the kids, food would be cheap and easy, place to crash and leave the very next morning after we get up, pool to swim if it is warm enough, etc. The All-Stars will be overrun with Pop Warner kids on their last night of their trip, so I want to avoid them at all costs.

I'm going to try to snag a room at Pop by calling regularly. Hopefully we'll get something! If not, we'll just go to Coronado Springs.

Thanks for the advice everyone!

Not all of the PopWarner teams are in the values. When my neice went they were at a moderate.
