Where would you eat on your birthday for dinner?

On a Very Merry 4-night Wonder in November, just asking where would you rather be on your birthday? A MDR or Palo? Which one and why? Anything special you've observed that makes you choose one over the other? Surely the food experience would be better at Palo but would you prefer the atmosphere of a MDR? Your thoughts? Thanks!

My daughter has been on one cruise and we are soon going on another for her day and she loves Palo. More intimate, less noisy. She really likes the food and staff.

We have only been on one cruise and did not eat at Palo. We found the MDR food very good. My DH chose to eat his birthday meal in MDR because it was a place the whole family could be comfortable. (The children could not go to Palo and my in-laws would probably feel less comfortable at a "fancy" restaurant)

I should add that in MDR they sang Happy Birthday to my DH and gave him a dessert...I think it was chocolate cake but it was like they added gelatin to the frosting...weird. It wasn't very good, but the regular dessert he ordered was, so it was fine.

MDR for my DH and my DBro last year on the Fantasy. It was Animator night and I drew my DH's submittal with a birthday hat.

Palo.....love it there
Quiet and you eat with just your party.
Great food and excellent service. We go every cruise.

We asked to celebrate our anniversary on the formal night and were brought a dessert and there was cheering (they “made” us kiss), etc. We went to Remy a couple nights later and they also brought us a Happy Anniversary dessert. So, maybe benefit from both? :bitelip:

Palo... Hands down! + because you celebrate something, you're in for some treats! :)

Atmosphere is awesome and I would pick Palo over any MDR.

We're celebrating our anniversary on our upcoming cruise in addition to my birthday. I have to be honest, I haven't seen anything on the dinner menus for Palo and Remy I would want to eat. We ARE hoping to snag a Palo brunch for one of the days though. For my birthday? Let's see what is on the menu at one of the pubs, maybe counter service. I'm also hoping to find recent menus from the MDRs too as we get closer to the cruise.

Best Disney food experience and atmosphere for me so far was with my wife under the umbrella at the tables outside the Yorkshire County Fish Shop, wearing our ponchos in a down pour eating fish and chips. It was raining so hard it was like we had a private table and the rest of the world didn't exist. I don't need a white tablecloth...

For me it would depend on which menu was available that night. I love certain meals at the main dining rooms would prefer them for my birthday over Palo.

Agree with the Palo brunch suggestion - I would not want to miss out on one of the MDRs on a 4-day cruise

I'm not a big fan of the MDR food so I would definitely vote for Palo. I've eaten there once and the food was amazing

Since my birthday will end up on Star Wars day, I would want to be in the MDR with my DH and 3 boys dressed as stormtroopers and me with my Leia buns :-)

I love food! The food at the MDR's and Palo are great but the atmosphere and view at Palo are second to none. As many have posted that Palo Brunch is magnificent if it's an option; however, if the birthday falls on Pirate night in the MDR then eat Palo. The Pirate Night Menu and dinner atmosphere is just okay at the MDR's so you won't feel like your missing anything.

I've been on 3 cruises over my birthday (not all DCL). Every time - the main dining room.
