I'm starting to feel sorry for the cabins. It's like everybody forgets that they exist.

Considering a staycation at Grand Cal for our 13th soon (would have to pay cash, cringe)— but kind of as a punishment for him because he didn’t want to request any time off which makes it hard to travel much further than a couple hours…and DLR is just a hop, skip, and a one hour drive away.

I say do it. We've never left the kids before, so this is a major milestone for us. It's a short 2 night trip, but we can squeeze 3 days out of it easily. I'm hoping this makes him want to do it again.

We paid cash, shhhh, but work is reimbursing I think b/c of a 20 yr anniversary gift policy they have. I'm not complaining at all.

I voted twice Because I think she will keep ccv for now then offload it for LSL so im not sure which i should pick.

Judging from her other resorts i dont think Riv is her style, but maybe her husband liked it and the coffee swayed her so that would be my second choice. I am way too invested

awww you guys are so cool, you all are my people. We went through all the emotional aspects on the plane (the wifi didn't work so we had to just talk to each other). In a couple hours my son has a sports class so we are going over the all the paperwork aspects of it, point charts finances while we sit in the bleachers.

My husband sure didn't forget I blame youtube and all the damn living in the woods in a tiny home videos they have that he binges.

I can say they did themselves a disservice for putting the bunk beds next to the master bed in the cabins. If the bunk bed was in the living room I can say my husband would be fully pressuring me to buy there. But I guess he loves me more than than the tiny home fantasy

Totally agree. Pushing the bunks into the main bedroom blows my mind on just dumb layout choices. Then again I may still not have been interested.

I think they should have left half the cabins as cash rentals and half as DVC. Not sure how sales are going, but if the comments on Disboards are indication (which they aren't necessarily), I imagine we're looking at the next Aulani and they'll take a long time to sell.

Though maybe DVC doesn't mind since basically they do rent them for cash while points get sold. Wish we had someone inside letting us know DVC's long-term strategies (for more reasons than the Cabins!)

And bathroom on the opposite end. Who wants to make a trip through the living room where people are sleeping and the kitchen to go to the bathroom middle of the night. There are 2 new models opening next weekend. The new models are visible from the restaurant. The guide said the others were too hidden and people weren't noticing them. Im like yeah Im not sure thats the problem.

Yes the bathroom situation is not good. But they couldn’t/wouldn’t change the foundation/plumbing, so were stuck with the same layout,

Lololol. My husband likes VGC (and short trips with me just to be clear), but dropping like $800/night cash would be the punishment, vs. spending less than half of that at the Westin.

I can say they did themselves a disservice for putting the bunk beds next to the master bed in the cabins. If the bunk bed was in the living room I can say my husband would be fully pressuring me to buy there. But I guess he loves me more than than the tiny home fantasy

The bunk placement choice was really odd, maybe they have some sort of data suggesting people who like CFW don't "need privacy" in their bedrooms? Lol. I'm guessing more likely there are people who want to be able to chill in their living rooms while the kids are sleeping so they are trying something different from the standard 1 bedroom layout?

I do want to try it out at least once, but the lack of washer/dryer would have ruled it out for us, even if the dues were reasonable.

I think if we stayed or visited a bunch of the DVC resorts....my husband would probably want to purchase VGF. But still keep BRV too.

See, I'm one of those people who prefers the bunks in the room because with our son, he can't be left in another room safely. so it would work out really well for us. For example, at the 1-bedroom in BRV...my husband and son shared the king bed while I stayed out on the murphy. We need someone to notice if our son wakes and tries to exit the room, unfortunately.

But I'm pretty sure we're in the minority with that.

I agree. There are things about the cabins that appeal to me but then other things that are just not for me at all....like internal buses, for example.

They actually did change the layout though.
