ESPN is totally booked so I need to find a place to watch the game with my 18yo son. He is really into football but wants to be with other people. We don't want to watch it in the room...any suggestions would be appreciated.

Nearly all of the bars at the resorts will have it on.

In Florida are 18 year olds allowed in bars? In PA I think you can be if with a parent but not actually at the bar.

I haven't seen any postings about any outside viewing setups either at ESPN or anywhere else on property. Maybe because ABC isn't broadcasting it?

I love that they show the entire World Cup but they can't have a venue setup like that for the Super Bowl. American Football is the most popular sport in this country.

1. Its a possible rights issue. I'm going to assume that ESPN had the US rights to the World Cup so therefore no issue doing pretty much whatever they wanted to in WDW. The rights to the Super Bowl are owned by NBC this year so WDW would most likely have to negotiate something with them to have any venue outside of the ESPN club which has its own agreement to show the game most likely with the NFL.

The last time Pittsburgh played in the SB the University of Pittsburgh wanted to show it on a big outdoor screen. It was all setup but canceled at the last minute due to rights.

The NFL is probably more protective of the Super Bowl than even Disney with Mickey Mouse. Ever notice how many ads you see these days talking about "The Big Game".

2. I think some NASCAR fans would disagree. :)

1. I have seen this before as well but I am sure that if Disney/ESPN wanted to show the game in Epcot that they could work something out with the NFL.

2. American football is the most popular sport in the US and Auto Racing is fourth in a recent story on ESPN so it isn't even close.

I think Rainforest Cafe at DTD has a couple TV's. I would think you could watch it there.

You can be within a bar if you're under 21. Liquor stores are 21 and up or with an adult.

Rainforest cafe at DTD has a nice little bar set up inside with tv's. They play the games every Sunday, so they will for sure have the game. But it isn't too big of an area.

Planet Hollywood has tv's and on each floor they have bars with the games on

Off site, there's a Hooters and buffalo wild wings about 3 minutes outside downtown Disney.

Any place though I'd obviously call to reserve seats if possible or show up real early

One issue is that anywhere on property may be a zoo. I have seen posts before ESPN took "ADRs" that you need to get there before it opened and had to hold a table for 7 or so hours.

Any lounge with a TV will have it on, since it's nationally televised. We watched March Madness college basketball at the lounge at the Poly and it was comfortable. Also watched Saturday college football at the lounge at POR, though I think Yeehaw Bob plays there on Sunday nights. Not sure if he would when the Super Bowl is on though.

Splitsville is another location people go to watch football which tends to be less crowded than ESPN Club, but I'd suspect it would still be busy being the Super Bowl.

Yehaa Bob does not appear at POR on Sundays.

A couple years ago we stayed at POR and watched the game on the lawn in front of a big scene (where they normally do movies I think. . .)
Anyway, it was awesome to watch the game outside, totally great vacation moment. There were drinks and snacks for sale too.
It wasn't well advertised that the resort did this though. . .maybe they all do something without pushing it too much.

Splitsville is a great choice BUT, on another thread someone said the entire upstairs has been rented out for a private party so I would guess you would have to get there REALLY early or make an ADR to sit downstairs. A few years ago, we watched from the bar at Paradiso 37 and while a bit low key, it was still fun!

Sorry for thread-jacking, but I have to throw this in here....

GO SEAHAWKS!!!!
