I'm planning a trip for Three adults and two young children. It will be my dad in one room (first trip - probably a lifetime trip) and then myself and two children (two years and 6months). I've been before and stayed Wilderness Inn. Money is somewhat a concern but not extrem so at this point I'm open for anything. Where should we consider?

You don't mention a budget. You have tons of options. If you could swing it, one of the monorail resorts would be fantastic since you have two young children but they get pricey and it looks like you want two rooms. I am confused though. You stated 3 adults but then you stated yourself and 2 kids. Anyhow, another option is one of the family suites at either all star music or AoA. Everyone could be in one room and your dad could take the bedroom with everybody else in the living area. These rooms also have 2 bathrooms. When is your trip? Another option might be to rent DVC points from a DVC owner and stay in a 2 bedroom villa. This isn't the best option if your trip is close though.

Sorry dh would be with me and the kids. It is pretty important for my dad to have his own room. I'm not sure about a budget yet as we've looked at all levels. Part of me is drawn to Animal Kingdom Lodge but I'm not sure yet what would fit us yet. I'm thinking we won't be going until Sept 2013 so I have time to figure it out

How is your dad's mobility and is he going to be on his own any or with your family most of the trip? I'd def try and stay at a monorail resort or maybe the Wilderness Lodge again if it were me. What parks do y'all plan on visiting most? I'd take that into consideration too before choosing my resort.

If your father's mobility is of any concern at all I would recommend that you arrange with an offsite agency to rent an ECV for the entire stay. Then you would't have to worry about the size of any resort you choose.

It sounds like you might be well served by just getting two connecting rooms. Decide on your budget first, then look at the resorts that will fit your budget. If this puts WL or AKL out of reach, then all of the mods would work for you. You would just need to ask for ground floor rooms, to accommodate the ECV (if you decide you need one).

If money is somewhat of a concern, you might want to take a look at the Swan and Dolphin. The Dolphin has AAA rates as low as $125 in Sept and you can get a second room as low as $119 with their Stay Connected offer.

The main drawbacks are that there will be a $14 resort fee added to each room plus you'll either have to arrange your own transportation from the airport or pay an additional $15 for parking. Despite that, the Swan and Dolphin are every bit as nice as Disney's deluxe properties and you likely won't be able to find rates anywhere near that low at the other deluxe resorts even adding the extra fees. Plus you'll be in one of WDW's best locations with walking distance to two parks and the Boardwalk and YC/BC right next door.
