Las Vegas Where to stay with kids?

We are taking a road trip and will be passing through Vegas. We have only been once (without kids). Which hotel would be best with kids (ages 11 and 13)? We just want them to see Vegas once!

The Bellagio is close to the action and lots of fun for kids. They have a free chocolate fountain and the conservatory.

What's your criteria and is cost an issue?

You would need to remember that even at the "family friendly" casino-hotels, alcohol is freely flowing and smoking on the casino floor can permeate everywhere even if smoking isn't allowed in all other areas.

We stay at the Desert Rose, which is right behind the Tropicana and Hooters.

They have one and 2 bedrooms and the couch is also a bed. They have free breakfast, pool and jacuzzi. Full kitchens. Still close enough to walk to the strip.

The one and only time I've been to Vegas we stayed at Bellagio which is fantastic!! Kids would like that. Cost is not a huge issue, since it's just one or two nights.

Circus Circus was kid-friendly, but was crowded and seemed dirty. We went in August last year and the kids seemed to like it.

I would suggest Mandalay Bay for kids (and fun for adults too!). There's a great wave pool and lazy river. If you want a little more luxurious accommodations, the top few floors are dedicated to the Four Seasons Las Vegas. You can stay there and also use MB's amenities. While you can certainly walk the strip, the closest hotels are the most kid friendly, IMO. MGM Grand, across the street: See the lions in the lobby. Then, the next few hotels down are the Luxor: the theming is amazing! Excalibur: the theming here is also fun, with jousting and such for the kids!

It really depends on your price range! Like PP, Mandalay Bay is an awesome hotel with an even more awesome pool! Love staying there for summer stay-cations! But Mandalay is pretty far away from the heart of the Strip. I would suggest the Paris! The theming is gorgeous and it is in a great location. Some rooms will face the Bellagio to watch the fountains every 30 minutes or so! Planet Hollywood is also really fun and the Miracle Mile Shops are located inside! If you don't want to walk through a casino to get to you're room (and money is almost no object), the Vadara is beautiful and located in the City Center Complex on Las Vegas Blvd. and Harmon. The Vadara has no casino and the rooms are suites.

Re: fun things for your kids, the High Roller, the World's Largest Observation Wheel is so much fun, especially at night! You can even bring a cocktail on board Also, the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian and Palazzo are gorgeous with a ton of high end shops, so fun to look around! There is also many great restaurants there.

We stayed one night on our way to DL last month. We stayed at Excalibur and did the Tournament of Kings show and then walked a little ways along the strip. Our boys are 8 and 14. They loved the show. The hotel was decent and rooms were large.

I've stayed at Paris. The room itself was pretty standard Las Vegas, but we didn't have a suite. It wasn't particularly big, and the Euro touches to the room were barely perceptible. The hallways did have decorative wallpaper. I do recall going downstairs for coffee (no in-room coffeemaker) and I could have sworn I heard someone speaking French. Seemed kind of odd, since the place is a theme park equivalent of what Americans think France is like. It was a great location though.

As far as rooms go, I liked Rio better. They have better prices and large rooms. The catch however is that it's not exactly on the Strip, although they have free regular shuttles to the Strip.

OP my one suggestion is if at all possible do not go on the weekend. DH and I have stayed at the Mirage which has a very good pool area. The weekday crowd is much different then the weekend one. I say this as part of a middle+ age couple with no children .
Much easier to get seats, not as crowded and much less of the party atmosphere.That also goes for the Strip itself

We stayed at the Vdara with kids and loved it! We had a Vdara suite with a full kitchen, washer/dryer and dishwasher. Pool was great and hotel is non smoking. Connected to the Bellagio by a walkway, and walking distance to many attractions.

Vdara suites as described above are an excellent family choice. Im a local and highly recommend Vdara. No casino and no smoking is wonderful when travelling with kids! Its also centrally located on the Strip. Other suggestions would be Aria, MGM or the Venetian.

We stay at the Jockey Club with our kids. It is right in between Bellagio and The Cosmopolitan (you can even use the Cosmo pool)
The location is excellent. We get the 2 bedroom suite for some room to spread out and having the kitchen is very handy for a light breakfast and coffee.
The kids can borrow board games and movies for some downtime and they even give them free popcorn.
Its not super duper flash but it is very nice. And there is no casino and it is 100% non-smoking

We liked that our rental car was parked close by, the one bedroom and living room and full kitchen was great, pool was small but quite satisfactory. Room rate was reasonable considering the space, full kitchen, and no resort fee. One block from the strip, coming home at night was like entering our own quite oasis.

We plan to go back to Las Vegas this year. Have researched other placed, but will likely go back to Desert Rose. There has been a change in management and there is no longer a free breakfast. We'll deal with that by using the full kitchen.

I am so glad you enjoyed it! I am so sorry they no longer do the free breakfast. But I do love the location, and how easy it is to the strip. I can even take the bus straight down to walmart if I needed to. Thanks for the heads up for change in management.Best of all no fees.
