I am going down to WDW next month to use my DPs at SSR. I have never stayed at the resort and wondered which section would be better for me.

I don't care much for DTD--not a shopper and won't be wasting time and $$ eating alone at the nicer restuarants on this trip. I would like to minimize the walk to the bus stop and Carriage house. Being near a pool would be nice too.

I was thinking of requesting a second floor studio at the Springs section. Any thoughts?

AT THE POOL with a fruity drink. :thumbsup2 Springs or Grandstand is nice. We stayed in the Paddock area and thoroughly enjoyed the pool there and it was close to a bus stop. Staying by myself I would love anywhere.

Don't concern yourself over a bus stop. Each section has one.

In your position and with the desires listed, I would recommend the Grandstand section hands down. It has a great pool, with bar, and is very close to the Carriage House. Request a building nearest the pool. One building is somewhat at a distance across the parking lot, the other two are adjacent to the pool.

The Springs is fine but really gives you the feeling that only the main pool is accessable to you. The Grandstand allows you to feel at home at either pool. I can't explain why, it is just a feeling I have.

Have a great trip. :)

I'll second the Grandstand. In addition to the pool/bar right there, it's only a 5 minute walk to the Carriage house. It's also the first bus stop (both ways) so you're just about guaranteed to get a seat on every trip.

Enjoy the trip but be careful, lots of SSR haters are being converted after staying there on DPs. OK, so maybe they don't end up being SSR lovers, but after staying there there seem to be more folks that enjoyed (or at least tolerated) it more than they would've expected.
