Where to stay on a weekend after 5 weeknights at BCV?

We don't like to use our points on the weekend but will be at WDW in the spring for whole week. What are some preferred places that people like to stay at when not staying at Vacation Club properties? We are open to any suggestions both in WDW and outside. The plan is to spend Sunday thru Thursday night at BCV and then Fri and Sat nights somewhere else.

Thanks

We like to go to the Hard Rock Hotel at US for at least one weekend of our two weekend trips. Front of line access is great.

Depending on your budget, you'll get lots of suggestions. If you can spring for it, I'd book something in the same category instead of a value. I think it would be difficult to stay in a DVC villa and then have to spend two days at Pop Century, for example. (This is not a criticism of a value resort - just an observation that if you stay at two different kinds of resorts, it's more fun to move up the ladder than down it!!)
How about a room at the Yacht Club? Or why not try the Boardwalk Inn or the Swan or Dolphin??

If a moderate is more your style, there are some great options, too. I loved my recent stay at POR, and CBR looks pretty, too.

Budget busted? Oh, well, anything at WDW is better than anything at home!!!!! Try ASMovies or Sports.

After DVC, I'd find it hard to go to a value resort too. I'd probably try the BC hotel. If a moderate was more financially feasible, then I'd go to CSR.

We are going next spring BCV also and we almost always spend the first weekend at Clearwater Beach (drive from MCO in under 2 hours so we are there around 1PM) and the second weekend at Hard Rock US for front of the line access to some terrific rides. This does save points but we also WANT to stay at these places anyway, so why not on the weekend.

We are going to stay at CSR this December for one night. Got an AP rate under the new Best Rate Program for $104.82/night incl tax. (Would have stayed at BWV the whole time, but decided to go one day earlier than originally planned and didn't want to use waitlist).

Anyway, CSR looks very nice - take a look at this website and decide for yourself:

Best wishes -

Another vote for the Hard Rock Hotel or any of the 3 on-site Universal Hotels.
The other 2 are the Royal Pacific and the Portofino Bay, all offer front of the line access for guests staying there.

We will probably try the AP "Best rate" program as mentioned in an earlier post. We have stayed at 4 non-DVC WDW resorts AKL, CSR, CBR, and POFQ. Loved them all, and would return to any. I've notice before that AKL often had attractive annual pass rates. I don't know if this will continue, but we'd like to go back again. We only paid $79 AP rate for a room at POFQ June '04, and considered that a great bargain.

We sometimes go to the Universal resorts we have stayed at HRH and PBH. We usually do this when we have the kids. This trip we start at CBR for one night ( never been there but we got a great AP rate). We then go to BWV for 5 nights then we check into POR ( we have stayed here before and love Bob Jackson) We hardly ever stay weekend night we enjoy trying other resorts although we hardly ever stay in the values anymore once in awhile we go to the deluxes it depends on the occasion. We like the moderates

Swan or Dolphin if you can get the special rates... they have a great deal now for 99 a night.. amazing! their AP rate is pretty good too... but I too like many others here opt for the universal way... It is now part of my Disney trip!

Two years ago we moved to the Dolphin and it was wonderful. I was able to get a great reat from Travelocity, so for $89. a night it was a no brainer for us.

We like to go to a Disney resort that we haven't stayed at yet. Our 'goal' is to eventually go to all the resorts. I think our next stay will be at CSR. I have stayed at the values and we like them (we really liked Pop Century).

So I would suggest trying out another resort that looks fun to try out.

Not sure I'd go for a value resort, but that's just me. They aren't nearly the same.

No question, the Dolphin is a great way to go, especially with the deals offerred on the DIS. I think they have a special right now for $99. It's first class, and you keep the crescent lake amenities. Great pool. Great location.
