We are new owners at Saratoga  and are planning our 1st vacation there. Where would you recommend staying and why? We have a 5 yr old and a 3 yr old if that makes any difference. Thanks for your help.

Congrats on your new purchase! You will love SSR. When we went in Nov we stayed in the new Grandstand section. We loved this section for a couple of reasons. We have a 10 year old and almost 5 year old and they loved the water play area in this section. The walk to the main building/food area was easy and maybe 5 mins. The best part is that it is the first bus stop when getting to the parks. We always had a seat and there were many times when by the time we got to the 2 last stops there was no room on our bus at all. Also, when you come back you are the first stop at the resort. It was so great. Here's a couple of pics of the pool area:

Springs is close to the main pool and they have a zero depth pool with the Donald duck water play area and life guards at the pool. However, like the other poster mentioned the grandstand is close and has a play area too. However having a 5, 2 and 1 year old the zero depth and life guards are a nice bonus. I think the grandstand pool is a constant depth of 3-4 ft but I can't remember. When we go back we are going to try and stay at the springs again due to the proximity to the main pool and then walk to the other play areas and pools on the resort. I think with the age of our kids the main attraction will be the main pool.

We love this location for quiet and the easy access to the walking paths to
DTD. It is the oldest section of the resort so there may be more "wear and
tear". We love it! :goodvibes

Can you request sections? I didn't know that - what sections are tehre? We are staying there for the first time in April. Thanks!

Taking the age of your kids into account, I would suggest either the Sprins or Grand Stand section.

The Springs
The Grandstand
Carousel
Congress Park
The Paddock
Here's a map so you can get an idea of how it's laid out:

We stayed in Congress Park once, a long walk to DTD for us "older" folks....:) , but nice and quiet. This December we are requesting the Springs so as to be closer to the store, big pool, and LOUNGE (for some liquid refreshments ...:goodvibes .

My DS, 7, really enjoyed when we stayed at The Paddock. He loved walking across the long bridge and seeing all the fish and turtles. He also thought the quiet pool and playground were just for him since there was rarely anyones else there. (This is why he was adamant that we purchase SSR and not AKV, which we were fine with!:) ) When we wanted to head to the "action" we often took the bus. If you hopped on the DTD bus it was also a quick ride back!

We have stayed at Congress Park and the Springs. Our little one is 4 and I think the Springs would be our 1st choice due to the proximity to the main pool and food areas. Also it's really close to community hall for games a dvd rentals.

We've stayed in every section at SSR, personally, our favs were The Paddock and Congress Park. My kids liked being right by a playground, especially at the Paddock when they could play while we waited for a bus.

Contrary to some opinions, we don't think there is a "bad" section to SSR - we like them all for different reasons.

As far as requesting, I usually ask for either The Paddock or Congress Park, and tell them why (playground, near a bus stop, quiet pool), and an upper floor, because my twins know how to unlock doors and will run out the porch door in a heartbeat.

Good luck and have fun!
