Where to stay in October?

My family is new DVC'ers and are staying at BLT, our Home, for the first time in a couple of weeks. Of course to get the most out of our membership we are planning on going again this October. We have never been at that time of year and was wondering if there is a preference within the DVC family of where to stay in October. I love the fall, it is my favorite season. I love the colors, cooler weather and decorations. I was thinking wither WL or AKL, but I'd like some input from the other seasoned members...Thanks for the help.

We haven't stayed at AKL yet...but have stayed at VWL and love it....if your interested in spending a lot of time at the food and wine festival in Epcot I'd recommend trying for BCV or BWV

Thanks for the reply. The F&W doesn't interest us at all. In fact we are more interested in decorations for the season and maybe trying out the MNSSHP.

I think that the MK's Harvest/Halloween decorations are even better than their Christmas decorations. So, if you will be staying around the MK area, I would try to stay at VWL at the Harvest time. That's what I'm going to be trying to do later on this month! There are hayrides offered at FW, and that's an easy boat ride from either BLT or WL!

I agree that the harvest/Halloween decorations are great. MNSSHP was AWESOME! Having said that, you have past the 7 mth window for the first weekend in October. I know the only studios available were at AKL, SS, and OKW. Because of the F&W, that is a very popular DVC time to go. How can you go wrong with AKL though?? Have fun.

Thanks for the posts. We are traveling the week of the 17th so that is why I am trying to decide now where I want to go. Hoping I can get it at the 7 month window. VWL sounds good due to the close proximity to FW in order to do hay rides. Love hay rides!

I am in the same boat we come in on the 17th and want to change for BCV or BWV or OKW..

We always stay BCV in October (home resort) but my favorite is AKL. I love staying there.

If you are interested in MNSSHP then I'd stay at BLT again. We loved being able to walk home after MNSSHP when we stayed there last fall. Or you could try VWL which is a ferry ride away but it will take you longer to get "home" after the party.

Just an FYI - BLT also has ferry rides to FW as well (the ferry makes a loop through FW-WL-CR).

VWL probably has better seasonal decorations. However, the short walk home following MNSSHP is nice too.

We stayed at VWL around the same time last year and just loved it! It was nice to have the option of the boat over to MK, FW and CR to pick up the monorail. If you have to travel by bus, give yourself plenty of time(especially if you have an ADR), because they can be hit or miss.
