Hi guys.....

I don't usually post on the Community board, but I thought someone out there might be able to help me!

DD's basketball team is playing in a tournament in Lake George in July. I know absolutely nothing about the area and am looking for clean, reasonable, close-to-the-action accommodations for approx. 40 people (about 10 rooms).

Any recommendations? Doesn't have to be the Ritz, believe me.....but clean, a pool, and not run-down would be awesome! Maybe something like a Holiday Inn or Marriot....or anything else you could recommend.

TIA!

Sammy

Hi There!

We live about 2 hrs south of Lake George and have season passes to Great Escape ( a nice little park).

The only place i really know of is Samoset Cabins, which is across the street from Great Escape. That is, a few miles outside of town.

It seems nice and it does have a pool.
The phone number is 518-793-0002.

If you have time while you are in Lake George, maybe we could put together a little DIS Meet.

Thanks, JetMom....I'll check them out. We still have not received a tournament schedule yet, so I don't know where the games will be or the times. We'd like to be able to spend the afternoon/evening at Great Escape, so hopefully, the game schedule will cooperate!

Anyone else have any ideas for places to stay?

The Georgian is right in Lake George village. You can walk to it with no problem, its in town. It is CLEAN (which is important in Lake George, there are quite a few dives), not terribly expensive, and has a good location. There is a pool, and it is on the lake, with a small beach.

I've been to Lake George 18 summers in a row, my family has gone longgggggg before that, and we've tried many places. The Georgian has been the choice for the past 6 summers.

BTW, when you are in the village, eat ice cream at RJ Annies! It doesn't look like anything special, but they have the BEST soft serve ice cream.

And if you do stay at the Georgian, the front desk gives out discount coupons to the Great Escape, so ask them about it.

How funny- I just booked a hotel for us over the 4th of July weekend. We are staying at the Balmoral Motel. I actually just picked it off of the website. As a child, we went to Lake George every summer, but we always camped a few minutes away, and never stayed in the Village. This time, we wanted something within walking distance of the action, and this place is. I'm hopeful it will be clean- I spoke to the nicest gentleman there when I made the reservations, and he said it was (of course he did!). It did look OK from the website. There are a lot of good websites out there with hotel info- I did a search on Yahoo and found a lot. There is a Quality Inn there that looked real nice, but it was just a bit too expensive for us on this trip. This could be a good choice for you.

Good luck- maybe we'll be there at the same time!

Oh how funny, we just got back from visiting Lake George this past weekend! We went to the Great Escape and had so much fun.

We stayed at the Days Inn which I would not recommend. Rather run down. However, the cabins that someone mentioned above are really cute. They are almost across the street from the Great Escape. Would be a lot of fun for a group of kids.

Its a real cute town with lots to do.

**Wish I knew of that yummy ice cream place a little earlier, looks like I need to go back**

Have a good time.:Pinkbounc

Trish Bessette or anyone familiar with Lake George: Any opinions on the Travelodge or the Best Western? These two are being suggested by the coach of the team, but I'm not seeing good reviews on the Best Western and none on the Travelodge...???

Sammy~

Unfortunately I don't have any recommendations for those places.

Search on Google for "hotels in Lake George" . I found a great site that shows tons of hotels/motels/cabins in the area. You can click on whatever hotel you want and it brings you right to their site.

Good luck!

Hey the lake is only 32 miles long you shouldn't have too hard time finding a place :)

I can tell you NOT to stay at Surfside on the lake--it was dirty and terrible. Tall Pines on Rt 9 is nice but I dont know if they can accomodate 10 rooms in July. Its a family owned motel, very clean and a nice pool.
