Hello everyone. We are deciding where to stay next June. Our window is open as of today.
We are AKL DVC owners...deep down I am perfectly happy staying there. We did stay at BWV in October on a big family trip but I didn't love it (during a giant convention which affected the vibe I think).

So for an 8 night trip. I kinda want relaxing with some pool time fit in.
I had settled on Poly but with all the construction warnings I am a bit leery. Then I thought CCV but they will now be going thru soft goods. BCV is out because of no pool... or do I chance it might be open? Do I try BWV again in hopes I like it better?

It is a lovely dilemma to have I know lol. I just want help deciding lol. Thank you for any opinions/thoughts :)

What about BRV? Right down the covered walkway from CCV, access to the same pools, dining and other amenities. Just as relaxing as CCV, to me anyway!

And what about the other monorail DVC resorts, VGF and BLT?

I did consider BRV and it may end up winning. lol. I thought BLT is under refurb too? GF is lovely but I am not sure it is our aesthetic. Although...the resort rooms are super pretty.

Thank you for responding :)... my DH and I are sitting here discussing lol. He says do a split stay and be done w/it :)

Sorry, I forgot BLT is being refurbed as well. I do have to say AKV Kidani is my second favorite resort, but BRV is close behind! They’re both so beautiful. BRV reminds me of the lodges in Yellowstone and Yosemite and being in the mountains, and of course at AKV I can spend hours on the balcony watching animals. Both are very relaxing!

We live in California and have a small cabin in the Sierra's but even in WDW I love the mountains lol. I cannot wait for AKV to be refurbished. As of now I have booked CCV and will think on it... maybe change to AKL Kidani. I very much like having an actual table in the room (DH likes to play card games :))... thank you again for your help :)

In would go with either BRV or VGF - both are very relaxing and quiet - CCV can be noisy since it’s in the main building….that’s why I prefer BRV - I love having our own little lobby and crossing over the bridge complete with faux cricket sounds…

This is going to be an unusual suggestion, but hear me out: A 1BR Standard at Saratoga, with a request to be in Paddock near the pool.

Yoiu are there for a long(-ish) time, so there is no need to run run run to the parks. SSR has a quiet elegance about it that I think works for an adult-only group. Because it is not right next to a theme park, it doesn't have that chaotic energy that many of the others do, so is a little more amenable to relaxing. The Paddock pool usually has space, is a little calmer than some of the feature pools around property, and is quite nice in its own right including a functional CS location. You are within easy striking distance of Disney Springs to enjoy a nice meal out or maybe even a show at e.g. House of Blues or Cirque.

So that's why Saratoga. Why the 1BR? It is a few more points than e.g. a Poly studio, but it allows the two of you to stretch out and relax--up to and including easily having breakfast in the room. On a trip with just an adult couple, being able to eat breakfast without getting dressed enough to be presentable can be...ahem...nice. 8-)

I did not consider this! Ok now I am going to look at points for this lol. We are actually willing to uber/lyft to places should the need arise. I found this was the best way to get to AK in them am (strangely don't mind the buses in the afternoon but in the morning I find them sooooo cold). thank you for the suggestion!!

I was also going to suggest SSR. It sounds like a great fit for your needs. We own at both AKV and SSR and find SSR more relaxing, as it doesn't have a big bustling lobby building. You can hop off the bus and walk through relatively quiet surroundings to get to your room, you can stroll around the resort for some exercise, and easily hit Disney Springs for great food. All the pools are pretty chill too--the Congress Park and Grandstand pool are my favorites for adult relaxation. Enjoy your trip!

I would suggest also BRV. We live in NH, so no lack of "mountain" vibe here, but, still we love BRV. We stayed at Poly last month and really enjoyed it, especially in the evenings. Villas are large with two baths.

We did a split stay and were one night at SSR in a studio, not our vibe even though it was overhauled since we were there last. We did another three nights at AKV Jambo which was a favorite in the past, but it felt old, dark, tired and then we had the "knock" on our last day. That pretty much did it for us.

Enjoy!

We did Kidani in October (split w/BWV) and I do lovveeee the resort (better as we own there) and the animals but it is past time to refresh. I am fine w/ the dark woods etc. but new shower doors/floors etc would be great. We got the "knock" at BWV! We ended up just leaving the room. It was very awkward. I knew they did this and as we were literally on our way out of the room I just said ok . come in and inspect... I guess we will go now. Then our daughter walked by our room (they were in another studio) and there was a sign on the door "This room is being serviced by engineering" and door was closed. That one kinda irked me. I swear I am not a suspicious type lol!
:)
